Belly wouldn't be able to find the time,to busy breeding race horses & running nite clubs.

sounds like he is busy losing money if thats his current pass times.

No wonder he needs a new job.

BTW i wouldn't hire Bell under any circumstances. He is what you call a "high-mach" individual, could never tolerate being 2nd, could never play second fiddle to anyone and within weeks of taking the job he'll be destablising Harvey.

Get Scott Watters n Peter German as assistant coaches
Then one of Neil Craig n Dean Bailey as Game Day tacticians

Scott Watters as an assistant coach.
Brenton Sanderson as an assistant coach.
Neil Craig as our fitness guru, +/- opposition scout.
Put Simon Lloyd back into development.

Spend the money on the football department and reap the rewards.

Scott watters would be to get. Would we have the coin to out bid eddiewood?

That's the issue isn't it. Watters for sure would be the go - proven man manager, obviously has a good footy brain, knows what success is about at both Subi and now a year at Collingwood. Not sure he'd be easy to get though.

As for Bell, I think he'd be a good option if he can fit in with Harvs style (thus being Harvey's call), I've got no probs with it. The white-ant theory is just gossip AFAIC and doesn't particularly frighten me. What isn't innuendo and rumour is the guy knows a thing or two about the game and beyond.

All this anti-Bell sentiment because of a few rumours on the internet - most of which were started by Gentleman Jeff, everyone's favourite troll. Funny stuff.

He's a winner, a guy who knows what it takes to achieve the ultimate success in this comp. He's intelligent and articulate and extremely driven, a guy who made himself into a champion not through natural talent and skill but through sheer hard work and determination. He sounds exactly like everything you'd want in an assistant to me.

And he's a former legend of the club - maybe we can finally start getting some real club culture into this place.

If the rumours are true and he did fall out with CC, well, at least it shows he doesn't tolerate incompetence or stand for mediocrity, which sounds like more traits I like to see in my coaches.

And if the worst that can be said about the modern day Bell is that he's ambitious for a head coaching role, well that's a crime you can charge all AFL assistant coaches with. All the good ones anyway.

You'd also have to look at some recently retired superstars. I'd jump at the chance to get Matthew Scarlett across. Presuming he retires, he probably won't. Just seems like such a competitor, people with inside knowledge would know better who is suited to coaching.

Darren Milburn seems another with a good footy brain. Simon Prestigiacomo also, not sure what he's been doing for the last 12 months.

Craig Bolton is another recently retired top shelf footballer. Im mentioning all defenders because they seem to translate into good coaches. Generally they can step into an assistant role and be familiar with uptodate coaching strategies.

Apparently Bassett is doing an exceptional job in the SANFL but has committed to his SANFL club for another 12 months.

The club should look carefully at replacing Mitchell. I'd add youth and experience to the coaching panel. I'd add three new coaches. One experienced, Craig/Eade etc. One high profile assistant, Watters, Sanderson etc. One high profile newbie. Milburn/Scarlett/Bolton/Bassett

This. I will correct you though on saying that Belly became the player he was without natural talent, the dude was very talented and had an amazing football brain. If he didn't, he would've been Schammer. We obviously need to bring in a lot of new faces into the coaching box this offseason, Belly would be a great start. I like Harves as a head coach and motivator but we desperately need some creative football minds to compliment him. Would love to get Eade or Craig if it's at all possible.

I was hoping we'd replace him with a tin can, in line with our coaching replacements last year.

Tin can? We want success. Therefore our replacement should be

Bell would be a great addition to our coaching panel. Harvs wouldn't have trusted Bell to commute from Geraldton if he didn't think highly of him.

Pretty sure Watters will never come our way, didn't we turn him down a few years ago?

If Bell would be 100% committed then Yes go get him.
The rumours are probably true that he was one of the main players involved in the offield management issues.

That should just be more proof he saw the club was headed in the wrong direction an was desperate to try an get things fixed.
If he didnt have brains he would of shut his mouth an blindly followed.

Also would be a great motivator
Wasnt blessed with great skills or athleticism.
An was told your too short, too slow give up etc many times.
He kept at it an proved many wrong an got the absolute best out of himself through hard work an determination.
Think he could barely kick the ball 40m so he was smart an when he kicked he stayed within his limitations never tried to do too much.

We should be straight onto the phone to luke power and see if ne is keen to look at an assistants role.

Like bell but tend to think he might be too intellectual for harves and too busy making $

Luke Power's tipped to be the first captain of GWS.

I agree with you but some of the things Harvey has done this year has looked incompetent and made him look like a mediocre coach. A bad start to 2012 would see a lot of questions asked so bringing in a guy who has been linked with past instability at the club might not be a good idea.

Belly always seemed to hate the limelight, it looked like he couldn't wait to retire and do his own thing. I found it odd when he rocked up on TV with Zempilas and i'm surprised he'd want to get back on the footy merry go round.

Obviously a tremendous footballer and intelligent though v0v

The problem with Bell is that he hasn't coached before. We'd be putting another rookie assistant coach in. I can't see how that helps us.

Totally agree but I guess its the position he gets hired in which is important. If we also hired an experienced senior assistant coach then might work.

We should run a poll. Is the Dockers BF crew the most up themselves, opinionated, negative paranoid fan community in the country?

Seriously, the lack of respect and innuendo about the abilities of a champion of our club, and a champion of the game, based on nothing more than some weird synaptic connections is disappointing.

If Belly wants to coach at our club it should be a done deal.

Geez.. did Belly run over your dog or something?

Shouldn't Belly be expected to get some experience at another club first? I thought that was part of the reason JLo went to west coast.
