Barry still deserves support

I will always support Barry Hall. He took us to a premiership and has been a 6 time leading goal kicker for the club. Nothing will ever change this. I am sure Swans supporters as well as supporters from other clubs who understand footy appreciate the greats will always picture Baz holding up the premiership cup rather than punching Staker.

What he did on the weekend was stupid and has cost himself and his team mates. Barry Hall would know that more than anyone.

I think all supporters here are united that Barry will cop however many weeks he gets, stay fit and be ready to go when he returns. Case closed.

My biggest concern is about all the "protected species" crap that has been thrown about, I do not want this to add to Hall's verdict and hope the tribunal judge him on the act and that act alone when handing out the sentence.

If only Swans supporters were as forgiving of Hall as they were of Lockett breaking Caven's jaw. There's a lot of hypocrisy from those up in arms IMHO.

I'm not going to eleborate on this comment, all I'm gonna say is I completely disagree with all Swans supporters in this thread, sorry to say it but Barry deserves what he gets and then some.

Agreed. Sickening incident with no mitigating circumstances.

But it doesn't make the man a monster as the great unwashed would have us believe. He's been well-behaved for the most part since he's moved to Sydney. On top of that he's been a key figure on and off the field. Terrible incident but not a true reflection of the man.

Other than the Brisbane game, Hall seems to have been on the edge with his anger management all season.
I think there are lessons here for everybody.

1. If your teammate looks like losing the plot, remind him whats at stake before he has a Barry.
2. If you've got a glass jaw, dont hold your opponent off the ball.

What Barry Hall did is wrong.

He is a proficient boxer. He used those skills to deliver a classic left hook to an unsuspecting opponent - If you are proficient at self defense and attack someone who doesn't in law its classified as a weapons advantage. Any boxer knows that an accurate power shot (ie a hook) to someone who doesn't expect it will result in a knockout most of the time. I used to be a Barry Hall fan. He is a great athlete and one hell of an instinctive/physical player. Boxing & Footy are two different sports however and should be kept that way. Barry doesn't need support for doing what he did, he needs punishment.

It was a bit silly, put I can't wait to see if he gets in the new "bifs bumps and brawlers" DVD.

It's the only incident worthy of being in a Biffs, Bumps & Brawlers DVD ffromthe past decade.

Just wondering what people think was worse Ben Johnsons snipe on Daniel Bell which could have broken his neck or Halls Knock-Out on Staker which forced to miss the remainder of the game.

i follow the swans and i have kids, i was watching the game with my 7 year old boy at the the time.

even he knew something was up.................... it was wrong barry but i'm still going to support you and i'm going to use this as a life lesson for my kids.

just the same way i had to explain why ben cousins wasn't playing anymore.

i don't condone what happened and if it was your kid you'd be up in arms just like stakers mum and dad.

i hope it works out for everyone.

Barry deserves to get the 6-8weeks he's likely to get. And if anything, karma caught up to him before the AFL could. It's an idiotic thing to do, he let the club down and deserves to be punished for it.

That's all. After that, the slate is clean for me.

Though it's funny to see WC fans taking the moral ground when they hold Mr. Hunter in such high regards. And it'll be even more funny if Staker is fit to play this coming week.

Hall will miss a few weeks which he will miss anyway with his wrist. He'll come back mid season, and be super fit for the remainder and finals. as long as sydney can win at least as many as it loses while he's away, no real damage.
I bit of biffo will do the AFL far more good in Western Sydney than any Flyin-Flyout trip by Demetriou.
