Most posts seem to support keeping Bartel if at all possible. That's fair enough. I just can't see the Cats winning a GF without a KP forward. W.C. has done well with limited fwd options but there midfield kicks goals. Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Fletcher, Embley(wing) and even Cox. The cats don't have that goal kicking power in there midfield. Chapman Ablett and now Johnson are reasonable goal kickers but not potent enough on a regular basis. Windows of opportunity to get to a GF don't last long. Hopefully you guys are right and you already have the team to get u there. I know you've won with some big scores, but thats when you've dominated teams and everyone's lining up to kick goals. Teams rarely dominate finals games like that.

IMHO you need the forward now to give you the best opportunity over the next 5yrs.

Good Luck :D

Our forward line is sufficient, we have probably the best back 6 in the AFL, an excellent midfield which is highly underrated and a very good ruck division (if they can get fit), so as long as H can be solid, Kingsley can keep getting 2 or 3 goals a game and our smalls put in, we have enough. N.Ablett is still another year away from playing good footy, but may surprise this year and get a regular spot. If that happens watch out.

As much as a big power forward would add to our chances, I feel we wouldn't get good value in that he'd be replaced in a few years anyway. Our team is still very young and besides Riccardi, it will be 5 years before anyone retires. When you look at our structure, we're not yet at the stage of West Coast and StKilda as far as experience goes, but in a couple of years we will and that's when N.Ablett will be playing good footy. I think we're doing well to be where we are, but we are going to improve a lot over the next 2-3 years and that's when we're really going to be at our best.

The only player that 'may' make the difference is Fev.

He could have a stella year and kick 100 goals, but i am much like phat, i would rather not take the risk. With saying that, Jimmy is really starting to give the the $h!ts.

His behavior is pretty poor. He is not only dis-respecting his teamamtes, coaching staff, the GFC, but he is also showing his supporters no respect.

ADVISE PEOPLE WHAT YOUR PLANS ARE JIM. If you want to leave for money, then say so, if you want to sign, then advise the club so it erases all this doubt!

My guess is Jimmy will be gone, otherwise he would not be doing this to a club that has helped produce his talents.

The G-train is gunna retire, lets have the Fev Train down at the cattery.

I would be happy with a strait swap for Fev.
Then your easily pleased.

I'm not into slagging off other Geelong supporters but geeze there's no set date Jimmy has to decide by (unless it's closing in on 2pm Friday the end of trade week - then we'd pref. like to know his intentions) but it really hasn't got anything to do with anyone as to whether Jimmy wants to explore his options before signing the dotted line.

I don't see how he is disrespecting his teammates, in fact i highly doubt any of his teammates would feel that he's disrespecting them in any way ... and u say he's disrespecting his supporters - from what im reading he doesn't have many supporters left since the slagging of his behaviour has erupted throughout the site ... give Jimmy a break! - and he'll give us his all next season and beyond...

Just a question for you fellow Cats fans who genuinely believe he's going - why do you think that? Purely because it's taken so long to get to this point?

Are you actually basing that on anything?

From what i've seen, only two people are certain of anything and both of them believe he's staying.

I've not seen anyone come out and categorically state he's going, in fact i think thehoff is the only person i've seen who has said he thinks Bartel might leave.
