It was surprising that the cornes boys didn't have the influence a lot of people would have thought.
^yeah well in port's case, i think being in the good books with the umpires adds a bit of help. shaun burgoyne, my favourite player, polled the most votes, yet chad had about 5 best on grounds in the first half of the season but got something like 2/3 votes in total for that period, not quite sure on the exact figures.

anyway see ya on saturday cats

Jimmy played in the least amount of games for a winner since Greg Williams in 1994.

As Bruce pointed out, no-one has ever won the Brownlow and Norm Smith medals in the same year. The forecast for Saturday is showers. Any chance of Jimmy making history? :D

Lets not forget Round 13 against the Swans - you remember the "ambulance at halftime, double break in arm, concussion, nerve damage thingi"
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showt...ww.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=343118 might refresh your memory.
Then there was the big drama whether or not he would, could or should take his place against the Bombers the following week. ( see http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=345324 )
He played, but that was his worst game for the year - the gutsy little prick should have stayed in bed.
Anyhow, the point is that, in effect, he missed those two games as far as scoring Brownlow votes go.
Throw in the two week's appendicitis and he really only had 18 games where he could attain votes.
How many would he have polled if he had a full season?
Anything up to 41 votes mathematically.

p.s. The use of the term 'prick' was as an affectation.

Think Gazza might almost welcome the lack of attention over the next couple of days.

As an individual, he wouldn't be able to help but feel a little disappointed, but appeared genuinely excited for Jimmy.

Bit sad that everyone gives him a panning for not doing his best to clown around every time the camera went on him - guess that makes him bitter.

Well done to Jimmy.
This guy is an out and out GUN.
And good luck in the GF guys, hoping you get over the line which you should if you turn up to play. Best team in the league by a fair way.

Congrats! Well deserved and a great result for Geelong with Jimmy and Gaz both polling so well. Thoroughly enjoyed the count.

Seeyas Saturday!

Looking forward to it.

By the way, do you happen to know those guys that starred against us in round 21 - Cornes, Cornes, Burgoyne and Burgoyne ?
Tell em we've got four more players that couldn't make it that day but would like to have a crack at them.
Their names are Ling, Rooke and Sellwood.

Oh, and the Brownlow Medallist will be at the party this time. :)
