Huge congratulations to Jimmy, the most likeable brownlow winner in a long time.

Had a bbq at my place last night, after about round 5 all the Port supporters adopted him and the Crows ppl jumped on at about round 10.

He deserved it for sure.

Massive respect to Jimmy Bartel, a thoroughly deserving winner :thumbsu:

Love the way he goes about it, is a real tough and courageous player who is equally adept at getting his hands dirty to extract the ball as he is at the glory play. His magnificent season was overshadowed at times by Ablett's flashy brilliance so it's great that the umpires realized his worth to Geelong's incredible season.

He also proved himself to be a top bloke by showing real class, grace and humility up on the podium - a fine example that not all footy players are arrogant boofheads.

Best of luck to Jimmy and Geelong for the big one this Saturday, I'll be cheering for you :)

Ive been a mate of Jimmys since the school days anmd thanks to him i will be getting a new PC today (i had $10 bucks on him during preseason when he was $201 bucks to win), and i also have a splitting headache, as you will see in another thread, it was a bear for every vote, and as i said in the other thread...
Damn my head hurts

What was the go with Goodes giving The Jimmy a slap on the arse after the medal got hung around his neck? One too many affectionate cans possibly? When they panned to the Sydney table it looked like Goodes was playing that game where you have to have a drink after every vote. Smashing the cans down those Sydney boys; more power to 'em

Fair amount of bromance there.

Well done Jimmy and go cats!

Congratulations to Jimmy Bartel.

It doesn't surprise me that it went to him being such a quiet person. He had a fantastic year.
Cattersforpremiers,

Try and get Jimmy to join up here.

Congrats to star who thouroughly deserved the medal. Looked a bit nervous when he hit the front, i cant imagine what he'd be feeling though.

The look on his face when he realised he was gonna win it - priceless.

Selwood was on the telly a few times last night. I think he was on the Bombers table.

I feel sorry for Gaz. I really wanted an Ablett to win a Brownlow. It might never happen now. He did look a little disappointed I thought. It's probably better that he didn't win it because the media attention would have been insane this week.

I had $10 @ $11 a few rounds into the season. I took all the winnings to the Cats Shop and went on a spree.

My tip is Stokes or Dog Johnson to win the Norm Smith Medal. I've been dreaming the johnno kicks 8.

stevie j winning it would be an absolute dream come true and would turn him into a genuine superstar!
i cant imagine how both jimmy and gaz are feeling the morning after, life changing experience for jimmy and gaz surely would be shattered!

thoughts on this being too much of a distraction for our 2 most potent midfield weapons leading up to the biggest game of their lives???

With Jimmy, I reckon it couldn't happen to a more humble or modest bloke who has his head on right. Won't affect him or his approach one bit.

In Gaz's case, the snub would/should only see him lift his game that much more come Saturday (not that he'd need the extra motivation). Norm Smith-type heroics may be on the cards.

YEAH! ! ! Just got my $1,885 ($5 each way at $300-1). That pays for the tickets, and hopefully any brownlow memorabilia!!!
I shouldnt have got that much but I put $5 on him for 300-1 in Feb and then each week put others on ,then a few weeks later I put another $6 on him thinking I hadnt picked Bartel yet so all together I had $11 on him at 300-1....
Nice

Jimmy's night!

Here we are all. Not sure if it's already been posted on here but I found this on YouTube and I've already watched it twice. Sensational stuff!! Over 10 minutes worth of our boy winning the Brownlow starting from getting the 3 votes against the Kangaroos. Just love the part where he asks someone, I think it was Tim Callan, "now?" just before he gets up and walks to the stage. Five stars! Enjoy!

Well done Jimmy, you're the reason No.3 is the number on my jumper. Very deserved, thought Ablett would win due to him being noticed more, but Jimmy just goes about his football and he's just a star.. Now add to it this Saturday!

Onya Jimmy, congrats and well deserved! Have to say I was a little surprised that Jimmy beat out Gaz, but either way, one of our blokes got the recognition they deserved. Now hopefully one of them will have a Norm Smith around their neck by this Saturday arvo too :thumbsu:
