Surprised no-one has commented on this, but, Andrew Bartlett has gone on hunger strike, in support of detainees at the baxter detention centre who have undertaken the same action in protest to not having their immigration cases re-heard by Vanstone.

As they say, a can of Guinness is like a meal in itself, so old Andrew wouldn't have a problem. What odds he doesn't go all the way?
''hey mate you got room for a 7 course meal in your taxi?''

Spews a 6 pack and a pizza all over the back seat

Does he really think people care? They voted for Governor Howard and have validated his running of his prison.

I laugh at all these tools that do it close to christmas and cry about how many christmas days these detainees have been in detention when the majority (well probably all of them but I cant assume that I suppose) dont recognise christmas any way - the same goes for easter.

So give it a rest we put them at baxter so we dont have to hear the complaining :D

Most politicians will tell you they are ''christian'' then turn around and say to the muslim behind them that Allah and Mohammed have a special place in their hearts

When a politician says he is concerned about someone I look at the popularity charts to see if they are struggling

Oh and before people accuse me of cynicism dont you think the actions of ALL politicians open themselves to cynicism?

I would rather hear about the politician who has been doing good deeds quietly for a long time, at least with Peter Garret I know he is concerned about the environment and not pandering to the populous

Well great for him, Its great that he shows empathy for the plight of the detainess, but the redneck element will probably heckle him for weeks now.

Futile attempt at publicity by that poor bastard, hence the lack of response here. It's just like that so-called hunger strike Robert Bropho said he'd have on the steps of parliament house.
