Ever tried the Draft Day Sports or Fast Break Basketball games? You can play solo or join online multiplayer leagues. I'm in some good leagues with GM openings if you're interested.

Yeah they don't really have the same feel or depth as a FM style game either.

The same exact feel just isn't available. But some of the online leagues have pretty good depth with year long scouting, active league media, realistic free agency negotiations (with human agents), etc. I'd love a game with all the depth and the world wide scope of the soccer games but it just doesn't exist.

Anyway, anyone interested in a historical league should check this out: http://www.managersims.com/GAHoops/forum/index.php

We're in mid 1989 at the moment, just after the draft (Tim Hardaway was the #1 pick). Players enter the sim universe as college freshmen, so not everyone develops the same way they did in real life plus there are some "what if" scenarios with guys like Oscar Schmidt in the league. Expansion and relocation hasn't followed the exact NBA route either. Still, Jordan is dominant as you'd expect and it's a lot of fun if you remember that era (and even if you don't, I'd imagine). There are a few open teams at the moment and not every GM owns a copy of the software (DDS:PB). You can play without it, so there's no financial investment required at all.

Then there's this league: http://nllballers.net/index.php

This is one of the oldest leagues and has been running for more than a decade. As the seasons move faster than real life, it means we're in the 2021 season now (right in the middle of the draft). This league is much more active as it has certain media requirements if you want to participate in scouting. Everyone writes the occasional article about their team or the league, so there's always something to read and a lot of banter going on. I think there are currently two teams with openings but they're never open for very long. The NLL uses DDS:PB2 and is a bit more strict about requiring the software, but it is possible to play without it.
