I think people are being REALLY harsh on Ben here. People seem to remember Ben Hart after he came back from a broken arm but forget that he was in outstanding form before he broke his arm against Richmond. His form before the Richmond game was at AA standard IMHO.

Give him a pre-season and he will be good this year. His freak injury has cost him this year but I am confident he can still be a good contributor next year.

mate harsh calls need to be made come yr end

with a probable 4-5 delistings/retirements hart is on thin ice - especially as a 33 yr old next year, with 2 out of his last 3 yrs being injury interupted and the fact his best form is LONG gone

i reckon he is gone unfortunately.

one of our greatest ever champs and an absolute role model. lets hope we can him (and bicks) back to the club in some capacity over the next couple of years if he does retire :thumbsu:

I think he stay.

There would be players that are up for delistings without including Hart in there.

I would say Clarke, Griffin, Hinge would head the list.

I reckon Hart will stay on, unless he plays in a winning premiership team. Which means I think he will play on because I don't see him getting back in the team. While it is apples to oranges in a way, Neil Craig is showing that he won't tinker with a winning team by leaving Huddo and McGregor out. For the same reason I think Hart will stay out this season.
With a good pre-season under his belt I expect him to have a good 2007. Stiffy is right. His pre broken arm form was fantastic and he was coming back into the team at the wrong time of year - during the heavy training.

Why would we delist Griffen? Given Clarke will retire, why delist Griffen and lose 2 ruckman in the one off season? He is showing signs of becoming a decent player as he’s finally cemented his spot in Central’s league team and is playing some decent footy. He was always seen as a development player and on the weekend he had 9 possessions and 4 marks, not outstanding but not back for a backup ruckman.

And I can't see the club delisting Hinge, especially considering the age of fellow backmen Torney and Hart.

I absolutely ADORE Ben Hart. He has been a wonderful and inspirational player for many years.... but I'd rather see him go now, than have a woeful season that sees him playing in the resies. :( I also ADORE Doc Clarke - and he is in career best form at the moment, but with the return of Huddo next season, his time has also come. Win or lose this year, the hard decisions must be made for the future direction of the club. Keeping older players who are at the end of the careers, is not the way to go.
