Knife. The bat is only effective if you stand between an arm length and a bat length from your opponent. If you get in close the bat becomes next to useless, and you can stab them a few times.

Not totally sure, I reckon I'd be pretty shit at stabbing someone with a knife, so probably bat. Then again I'd much prefer to face a bat than a knife, wouldn't be that hard to dance a round a bit and draw a false swing. My problem would be taking advantage, cause you would only get 1 or 2 stabs to make it count. If you miss a major organ/don't do much damage when stabbing, it wouldn't be that hard for the person with the bat to take a step back and start swinging again.

I'd go with a bat. Stabbing someone with a knife would be "icky" I probably wouldnt do any damage, just cause a superficial wound.

For a long time after that movie I got chills walking thru underground tunnels/ under passes!!! Very confronting movie, prob won't watch it again.

Assuming the fight starts with us standing a few meters away from each other, enough quick swings should ensure he never gets a chance to get close enough to use the knife

One swing to the head and hes already off balance and blurred, a follow up has him on the ground and two or three more clean to the skull and hes at the pearly gates

People seem to be underestimating the ability of the guy with the bat to move away from the stabber and its short range

I'll take the knife. I feel I could defend myself and withstand an attack from a bat. With a knife it only takes one well-placed stab to end it all.

Bat may have range, but that's more than negated by how slowly I'd swing the damn thing/recover in contrast to the knife.

Maybe this scenario plays differently if you're a bigger guy who can swing the bat like a toothpick.

I've been attacked with a bat before. Deflected a shot with my forearm then copped one to the ribs and was able pull them in close and took em down with a double leg take down.

Put a knife in hand and it's game over from there.

I have a good mate who is well trained in several styles of martial arts/kickboxing ext. I remember him always telling me never to use a big object in a fight. Swinging a bat opens up your defense and leaves you open, a knife doesn't.

If the object is to kill then it's definitely the knife. Just have to be prepared to take a one whack, that won't be at full strength if you're moving in fast enough and then you're in close and the bat is useless. Stabby McStabby can swing into action then.
