That is a ridiculous deal. How is pick 40 going to help us anymore than pick 54 would, particularly in a shallow draft. Rather keep Maric for another year under new coaching department.

I agree 100%, it would be pointless to take a chance on pick 40 & give up a contracted player we have put 3 years into.

If thats the best deal keep him, he will have every chance to win his spot under a new coach, so take that as a challenge & win your spot Maric.

Agree with the rest re: Maric. Pick 40 won't get us much so I'd rather see him get a chance under Neeld than to give him away for an unknown kid.

Far more depth in last years draft. If we were trading Maric at the end of next season then I wouldn't mind pick 40, but this year it isn't worth nearly as much.

I think we're all forgetting that Maric was a very real chance to be delisted anyway- I am not upset by this at all especially if we look to use pick 40 in the trade period to help get someone like Lisle...

Think of it this way, it could be the pick which lands us say Ahmed Saad.

There's a guy who has worked very hard for his chance at AFL level, is a creative small forward and a player who I think will bust his gut to become a solid AFL option.

He's also only a year older than Maric.

It could even help us get another trade over the line.

I think it's worth considering.

I'd rather give an unknown kid a chance.

Every year predraft we go "what's pick 50 worth anyway, it's too deep to access any talent" but every year, there are always players picked up late and preseason draft that are good.

We might have to work harder this year but they are out there. I have no doubt there will be at least half a dozen players picked up post 50, preseason or rookie who turn out good.

Maric for pick 40. Done. Clears a spot on our list + an upgraded pick. Win.

Sort of. My mate works at gc in pr. I get to hear who has been spoken about and what's being shopped but gc only confirm with him just before he makes it official to put out to the public. So really I hear the same time as everyone else but i get to hear some cool things going on out there as well. It's not real flash but I guess it gives you all an idea of what is being talked about.

So pick 40 doesn't sound great BUT... If we used our pick 36 to get Jordan Lisle from the hawks we effectively are getting Lisle for Maric and down 6 spots int he draft.... Its a big IF but im not upset with this if it comes off..

Maric moving is best for both parties, he needs a fresh start with a new club to get more opportunity it would be good to get another mid range pick as it may help getting Lisle.


Yea made a mistake, use pick 36 to get Saad from GWS particularly if we could get some picks in 40-60 range for Bate Warnock Maric
