I'm sorry, I know this is hardly the revelation of the century but I've got to get it off my chest and into the open as it gives me a dire case of the irrits every time it's mentioned...

Jimmy Plunkett cannot possibly be the kid in the Max Walker Aerogard ad. That commercial was going around when I was at Primary School, which dates it to at least as far back as 1980. As Jimmy was only born in 1978, it's pretty safe to assume it wasn't a 2 year old uttering those immortal lines: "I used it too, Mr. Walker! 'Avagoodweegend, Mr. Walker." I'm sorry if I've shot down in flames Jimmy's sole claim to fame, but the truth had to be told!

There. I feel much better now.

But Jimmy has stated that it was him.....its a pretty strange thing to pretend to have done. You'd look like a goose if you lied about such a thing, and it wouldn't be hard to disprove it either. Was there two different ads perhaps with different kids?

surely its true

I remember someone told me when he was first drafted, and I thought that the dates didnt add up. But why would you make something like that up?
Anyway Jimmys a good player and will let his footy do the talking.

Jimmy Plunkett WAS in the Max Walker Aeroguard ad. He also had a small part in "Boy Soldier" which was a part of the ABC's 'Winners' series. I think he also did a few other minor bits in shows. I taught Jimmy when he was at Parade College and was a big fan of his when he played for the Western Bulldogs. (I still AM in spite of him playing for Carlton now.) He's a great bloke and gives 110% all of the time. Why the Doggies let him go and kept Andrew Wills, I'll NEVER understand. Bad move Terry!

They remade the add and he was in the second won in the late 80s.

The beginnings
''It's hot out there today, Mr Walker'' Ring a bell? Course it does. Aerogard. One of the most famous ads in Australian TV history, no less, featuring crowd favourite Max Walker being hassled by a young fan.

''There's only two things bother me, son. Batsmen … and flies!''''Tangles'' promptly blasts half a can into his Australian cap, the starstruck kid immediately following suit. So effective, that it was given a second run around in the mid-1980s. Those particularly keen on their sporting trivia might even know that the kid in the ''Avagoodweegend'' campaign Mk II was, in fact, former Western Bulldogs and Carlton player Jim Plunkett.

Pfft. Remakes don't count!

Tend to agree. I assumed people were talking about the original ad, have no recollection whatsoever of the remake and would think a lot of others are in the same boat.

Edit: Can't even find the second one on Youtube
