Had some fun last night playing with the BIGFooty 360 platoon.
Gotta say though, Conquest is soooo much easier and less fun than Rush on console.....let me explain. First of all, there was only 3 of us playing together and we won very close to every conquest round that we played, with all 3 of us generally finishing in the top 5 on the scoreboard. It was actually my first time ever playing conquest on BF3 last night (I'm definitely a Rush man) and my first match of it I got MVP. Second match I got 2nd MVP, and I got a few more 1st, 2nd and 3rd's before the night was done too. It really felt like a step down in difficulty from playing Rush mode, which I've played 28 hours worth of since the game's release for a total of two MVP awards, and a couple of 2nds and 3rds.
There's just not enough players on console to play Conquest, bar a few smaller maps, without having to just run around capping, earning easy cheap points along the way. Some rounds I was only finishing with 4-6 kills and still topping the leader board thanks to running around like a mad man getting very easy caps with little to no resistance from the enemy (mainly thanks to them being too spread out among the other flags due to the low number of players per team). It just felt too easy for only the 3 of us to dictate how the game would play out (barring the one or two games on the smaller maps with choke points, which were more enjoyable I've gotta say), just too easy to sneak around the outskirts of the map and get a cheap cap behind the action.
Now granted we were only in the one server for the night so it may have been a different story in another server, but out of the 10-15 games we played last night, I don't think there was one close match - every match ended with one side winning by about 100+ tickets or so. When I play Rush though, I find that almost every match is fairly close, especially now that the M-COMs remain charged even after the defender's tickets have reached zero, until the M-COM is disarmed. Even when your tickets get below 10 and it seems all hope is gone as the Attackers, or that you have the game won as the Defenders, all it takes is a kamikaze style run to arm the M-COM, even if dieing in the process, and the game is back on! Have won and lost many matches like this and I just can't see this level of excitement being reached in a Conquest game when I'm just running around capping, getting the odd kill here or there, before suddenly the game ends without anything of note really ever happening.
Anyway, I'm a "different strokes for different folks" kind of guy, so I get it if your a conquest fan, I guess I'd just highly recommend any console BF3 players to really give Rush mode a go. It can be frustrating as hell when your on a shit squad or team, probably even more so than with Conquest I'd say, but the payoff when both sides start evening up and the games become completely action packed because all 24 players are centralized around the 2 M-COM stations, rather than being spread out around 3 or 4 flags, is certainly worth it.
