This is concerning. These consoles are going to be around for a long time, 10 years and 7 years before we see a replacement. If they're struggling to get 1080p at 60fps at the beginning of the cycle then these consoles are going to be totally obsolete in a few years graphically when it comes to multiplats.

Games like BF4, Watch Dogs and others developed for PC and ported and scaled to consoles will look pretty average. You will need exclusives to milk these consoles for all their worth.

BF4 on PC doesn't look much better than say Infamous SS (worse in some respects). So this has to do with the Frostbite engine, map scales, player numbers, frame rate, the debugging version they where playing ect...

Looks like it's time to replace my GTX 570.

Do you remember what games looked like when the PS3/360 first came out.

Games now are generally more impressive, but there has been a trend over the past generation to pile on more "effects" (lighting, particle effects, motion blur, depth of field etc.) and in doing so, cutting into the typical 720p resolution as well as the frame-rate. So BF3 might have blown CoD 2 away in all sorts of respects, for example, but it still doesn't really look as clean and definitely doesn't run as well.

In other words, what Easternhills is alluding to (I'm assuming) is that the standard is set early in the generation in regards to FPS and resolution; after that, it almost never goes up, but will often go down as publishers try to get the better of their rivals' games by pouring on those "extra effects", that are mostly only coming into some sort of applicable use (on the PC's ever flowing hardware) as the generation wears on; by doing this I'm assuming they believe their game will stand out and have more chance of being successfully promoted, after all, its actually extremely difficult to promote 60fps gameplay as a feature when almost all the promotional video of a games gameplay is stuck at 30fps anyway.

The first one at 2:44 he has C4 attached to a pole, watch how far he shoots it, could go further if he was aiming up.

In the 2nd video (13:06) the guy uses C4 but it is the same as BF3 so I assume their is an upgrade.

Looks more like an animation glitch to me. The player should be running around with the detonator in hand not a parcel of C4. Actually the whole sequence is glitched in the first vid compared to the second.

Also C4 now slides accross the ground which may have made it look like a longer throw distance.

Interesting read. The commander killstreak 'perks' sort of cater to the COD crossovers I guess.

I feel BF4 is slowing evolving into a 50/50 COD/BF hybrid instead of being 30/70 in BF3.
