What are peoples thoughts on the classes?

Not sure if i like the medic being solely SMG based and the assault now rifle based?

I think the game is great and im enjoying it more then I did BF1 however as others have said some of the maps are pure cancer. Was playing a game mode at Aerodome and the team was sniping us from their spawn point which for our team was outside our map 'zone" so couldn't sneak up on the bastards

Little stuff like that is annoying but not game breaking

The new specialisation options on the guns is a great new touch, trying really hard to get to Medic 20 so i can use the Tommy Gun!

None of the maps are great.

Most are just ok but feel like much of the same.

The two snow maps are dreadful.

Fjell 652 is basically a worse version of Guilin Peaks from BF4.

Small map with close bases promoting lots of infantry fighting.

Except Fjell 652 is worse in every possible way.

  • Restricted pathways (BF4 you could at least helicopter ontop of the peaks to snipe)
  • Bombers
  • No central fighting area
  • Very similar to a Battlefront map
  • Snow
  • Terrain that you can't get over

Trying to like this game but it's a chore.

As a generalisation the maps are shite.
Out of curiosity what games do you actually like? Other than possibly PUBG, I don't think I've seen you say you like a game.

I like games that give me a new experience.
I liked Halo 2.
I loved MW2.
I liked Black Ops for 3 months before I figured out the shitful netcode.
I double loved Bad Company 2.
I liked BF3.
I loved BF4.
I liked BF1 for 5 months before the lack of content and the dumbed down gunplay wore me down.
I love PUBG. It defined a new genre. Every round is different. No grinding for unlocks. And the best gunplay mechanics of any shooter I have played bar none.
I'm trying to like BF5. People describe it as BF1.5 which seems about right. I'm missing the PUBG gun mechanics, especially lean.

Not gonna bother listing other games that I have low hours played. Could throw a meh blanket over that field...

Fair enough. Wasn't being a smart ass btw, was a genuine question. I do question your gun mechanic love in PUBG though. Maybe thats more on me not playing it enough though.

I can't compare to BF1 since I never bought but I thought BF3 > BF4 and it has been downhill since.

I think game companies need to take a closer look at PUBG beyond 'its battle royale'.

It was not the battle royale aspect that people love(d) about PUBG, despite all its developer issues and netcode problems, people (including myself) finally had a large scale shooter that ticked many boxes:
  • Large unique map
  • Tactical play
  • Your life was valuable
  • Gun variation
  • Rewarding kills
  • Squad play was great for communication
  • Lack of hand holding
Compare this to Battlefield that since BF3 has been making smaller and smaller maps, constantly pushing you into combat. (it all began when they took away actually having to walk into a vehicle, now you just spawn in them)

Pub guns, maps, gameplay and controls on the frostbite engine one that actually works properly would be perfect

No offence taken.
I'm aware of my perceived image in the forum as some kind of CoD hating monster.

PUBG single firing at range is one thing with the ballistics and muzzle velocity, but the full auto sprays are another thing alltogether. I still suck at it after 1100 hours but granted probably 950 of those hours are spent not firing a weapon!
I hate to reference a streamer as some kind of supreme authority, but Shroud is on record as saying PUBG gun play is up there with CS as the best he's played.

In comparison I can pick up almost any full auto weapon in BF5 and master full auto sprays out to medium range inside an hour.

So Battlefield is being gradually dumbed down to capture sales from the CoD audience.
Well I never...

Except the Frostbite netcode is no better that UE4 at all.

Yes but ea dice know how to actually use their own engine. Pubg corp are hopeless.
They effectively killed the game in oc through their own incompetence

To be fair no developer could have handled the extraordinary & explosive growth that PUBG saw. 30+ million units sold and nightly concurrent player counts on 1 platform of over 3 million peak players.

Even EA or Activision would have sunk if the demand exceeded projections by a lazy 10,000%.
They would have recovered alot quicker though, I'll Give them that but that's the difference between having cash and having other talent and resources already on the books who can be reassigned at short notice.

Also If they are getting no support from the Engine Licensors....
