:thumbsu: Daniel Harris.

Due to the form of Klinger and Ferguson his contribution has been overlooked this season.

Is actually the 5th highest Sheffield Shield run scorer behind Klinger, Hughes, Rogers and Ferg!

Also good to see the redbacks traditional late february form!:thumbsu:

Doing well 6/378 :thumbsu: O'Brien just out for 55 - been a good pick up.

Manou 65* has he turned it around with the bat or what?

Our lead is 135

Our batters have faced 126 overs and WA have bowled 42 maidens ...

There was an article in the paper this week saying he was the likely candidate for the back up keeper position on the Ashes tour. Manou really has lifted his game last couple of seasons and would deserve the chance after being in the shadows for a long time.

From memory, a back up keeper is usually taken to England, so he is every chance to be over there! Esepcially this year given that Haddin plays all 3 forms of the game and will be there for 4 months starting from the T20 WC, until the conclusion of the ODI series in late september.

All out for 228 leaving only 14 to chase:thumbsu:

Only the Redbacks could lose it from here!

And against all odds Manou must be firming for Ashes inclusion with the dropping of Ronchi and ambivalent form of Paine, Wade and Hartley.

Ok, I realise how insane this sounds.

But

It's not totally outside the realms of possibility for the Redbacks to make the Sheffield Shield Final.

An outright victory in the final game against Tasmania and Victoria not losing outright to Queensland would do it.

Wouldn't that be something!:thumbsu::eek:

Well, Wade did extremely well for the Vics in their match.

I'd like to see him taken, as he's just an exceptional batting talent. Plus, he's not really Victorian, which is always a bonus. Could argue that he's very young and raw though.

I'm not much of a Ronchi fan, and certainly not a Hartley fan (in regards to his skills with the willow. Great keeper, though.)

Am a big Paine fan. But has he done enough?

You're joking me! Manou is by far the best keeper in Australia and of late has been awesome with the bat, why wouldn't he get picked?

I'd say Hartley is in line before Wade. He's made 2 centuries in his last 2 innings, seems to be working on his batting a bit.

Am a big Paine fan. But has he done enough?

Done nothing, one of the big disappointments this season.

Age isn't on his side. Given the path the selectors have taken, picking younger players with talent, over older, more experienced players, it's probably fair to suggest that they'll probably do the same with the backup keeping position for the Ashes.

I'd like to see a younger player taken as backup, it's just a fantastic experience for a young, up-and-coming keeper.

Averaging 40 odd in SS. Bit surprised, actually. Obviously has been.

Wade is about the same.

Done nothing, one of the big disappointments this season.

Didn't realise he was averaging below 30 in both forms this season. Fair enough.

Well, looks like the Redbacks have f***ed up there chance to finish 3rd in the Sheffield Shield. To their defence, it looks like the pitch is a bloody nightmare to bat on, 3 wickets have fallen on day 3 before anyone could score a run.

Oh ye of little faith.

Spoke too soon. ;)

Cosgrove is a brilliant player. Yet another century for the superstar of SA cricket.

A brilliant talent.

You can only wonder what might have been if he wasn't such a lazy gobshite. He'd probably be a regular for Australia.

He's still got time to turn it around, but I can't see it.

For all the times this year we have conceded 1st innings points "to try and get an outright result" has cost us a spot in the final.

So we finish 3rd in every competition this year. It sounds better than last, but it still means we won stuff all. Usual trend from the last few years has continued with us winning games at the end of the season, when really all the damage has been done.

Hopefully next season Harris and Klinger continue their good form, and Cosgrove gets his act together. Ferguson if he isnt busy with the ODI team will also add some depth to our batting. Not to mention Manou - has he lifted or what this summer! Christian has been in good form with the ball, as has Cleary. Throw a Shaun Tait into the works and its a rather formiddable lineup. :thumbsu:

It's been a good lineup on paper for quite a few years now. They've just consistently bottled it early in the season.

I think the difference this year is that its not the same old same old having a great end of year, its a young up and coming team which is potentially going to be there next year.

You need to score runs and be a decent keeper to be Australia's next wickie mate..

In terms of batting out of the 6 keepers I would rank them:

1. Manou
2. Hartley
3. Wade
4. Paine
5. Ronchi
6. Smith

In terms of glovework I would rank them

1. Manou
2. Ronchi
3. Hartley
4. Paine
5. Wade
6. Smith

Even though Ronchi has been dropped for Johnson I think it is .. he is still a great keeper but his batting lets him down which is why he wont be in the Aus side any time soon. Paine was great last season but really stuffed it up with the bat this year.

Manou in line followed by Hartley for me - based on this season.
