Manou has been named as VC and WK of all 3 Johnnie Walker ACA All Star Teams. Shield, FRC, and KFC T20 competitions. If he doesnt go on the Ashes tour as back up keeper there is something wrong. He has been working hard for a decade, and he is now considered next best in the country after Haddin... The only thing against him is that he plays for SA. :(

Small city mentality, that.

In terms of batting out of the 6 keepers I would rank them:

1. Manou
2. Hartley
3. Wade

Wade is a very good batsman already. With awesome scope for improvement. I rate him higher than Hartley at the moment, and long term (or not so long-term) he'll be a much better batsman than Manou.

Depends whether they want experience, or whether they want to take a lad, who's probably going to play a whole lot of cricket for his country, in Wade, an opportunity to tour. Paine/Ronchi will obviously be considered as well, if they're looking at the secondary option, that gives opportunities to youth. It's already paid off in South Africa.

Hell they might buck the trend and not even take one. Heaven knows Hussey needs something else to do other than catch up on his reading in the pavillion.

Geez we play some good cricket when there is no chance of us making the final. Add just a little bit of pressure though...

Should SA be patting itself on the back for its finish to the season? Or do they need to remember that when it counted, we weren't good enough?

Another thing to remember is that apart from Shaun Tait and very occassionally Callum Ferguson we were pretty much at 100% strength for the whole season. Whereas the other states constantly had their best players missing due to T20, one dayers and tests.

Whilst I do agree with this isnt that always going to be the case, especially given the amount of state cricket most of the guys play these days.

Agree, one of the ABC blokes raised the other night that barring injury there's a very real possibility that Mitchell Johnson will never actually play for Western Australia!

If you look at the table, Victoria, Tasmania and QLD (and us) were at the top

NSW, WA at the bottom, I wonder which of the 6 teams had the most players in the Australian Squad.
