lol. Well to be honest i'm surprised that the SACA bit the bullet and dropped a key young name in the squad as they have yet to do so with Cosgrove and Manou in previous seasons.

Cosgrove in previous seasons... UMM... OK! go and research some statistics my friend! Bite the bullet, admit you were wrong and Get Adcock out of there! Manou for the captaincy and get Delmount into the side!
Hey i was just making a point. Yeah i agree Adcock is the one i should have said. Manou has been a little better this year and Cosgrove has been average. Yeah Delmont would be good.

pretty disappointing result really, should have won it.
RL is right our top order is a disgrace, Its about time Adcock got the boot when you suck as badly as the redbacks you can't afford a player who is only going to score 20 runs at best, we would get more from one of the spinners plus they can bowl.
its disappointing to see Delmont out, but i still see some light at the end of the tunnel with Ferg (who had a bad match but isn't in bad form)
I also think Cosgrove needs a wake up call

We just won the under 17 championship. Theres gotta be some talent on its way through, surely. Not that talent matters when you play for our state.

Good signs but we just have to keep them going. Weve had a few good junior teams in the last few years its just when they step up to the first class arena they drop away. Whether that is due to them thinking theyve made it and having a useless attitude, such as Cosgrove, or whether they arent receiving the help on and off the field that they need.
I was discussing the team with a friend today and we thought that at the start of the year 3 wins and a couple of first innings wins were acceptable, not great but acceptable. Its just the way weve completely copitulated in all the other games. 2 games weve taken first innings points and lost outright. Now that does happen sometimes but when youre in a position where its harder to lose the game we still find a way.
There is hope with guys like Delmont, Ferg and hopefully Christian can become consistant, also Micky Cranmer is going very well at ET so hes another up and comer. Diz cant go on forever, Rofe, Cleary and Rhino are all hard triers but they probably wont win you games consistantly and the less said about Dan Cullen at the moment the better, but I do think he can get back to some sort of form. Somewhere we need to find an out and out star young fast bowler that can work together with the other guys.
Why isn't Skewes in the side? Cullen should have been dropped months ago. My 13 year old sons' bowling has more bite to it than Cullens'. Hope he comes good, but he's totally out of sorts ATM.

the sad thing is about winning the Under 17 championships is that the guys leave school, then get jobs and the like and GENERALLY speaking have to leave cricket. Unless they get given a contract early on, playing for a long time is out of the question - sadly it's the way of this country.
we're the sporting nation but we're not allowed to be involved with sport..
Nathan Adcock once played Under 17's for the state (i think they may have won it one year when he played too) - guess what? he's the only player still playing at any sort of decent level.
people just don't continue with cricket because they get jobs and another life and sport (cricket, football, tennis etc.) always gets put back on the shelf. Because unless you get given a contract with a club, state etc. early on then you can't juggle life with sport.

But that is no different to any other state. It isn't a reason that SA has fallen behind.
The real issue that must be answered is how do we keep producing young cricketers that win awards and are touted as future Australian players (Cosgrove, Ferguson, Cullen, Bailey, C Borgas) but then lose their way only a couple of years later?
A young redback (as the announcer at the Test Match put it), by the name of Jake Brown was fielding in place of Ricky Ponting yesterday.....its not hard to see why we dont do so well. His throwing was...deplorable from the outfield. 2 or 3 bounces every time, not to mention at Gilly's toes. Very awkward to grab
I could have told Dizzy that you don't go out at night in the Latrobe Valley without finding trouble.

Hes clearly disillusioned about it all. Hope hes not out for too long though. My favourite cricketer ever and that's saying something when hes only 24.

Very very sad news this. Like the others I hope this is just a short-term thing and hes back next season. The guy was clearly disillusioned during the Perth test, and now we know it wasnt just his poor performance that got him down. Also my favourite cricketer and a stand-up fella to boot. Hopefully he gets his life in order and does come back.

I can tell you from experience facing anyone down the hill at Nairne isnt fun let alone someone like that.
My uncle and other people from that generation played against Wayne Prior when he came back for Springton in the 80s. Now he was a bit older then but still very rapid and he wasnt allowed, nor did he want to, bowl down the hill at any oval for fear of killing someone. Keep in mind that a lot of country cricketers dont wear helmets these days, and none wore them back then.
I have heard this is a possiblity that he will face up for nairne, however he would not be bowling pace, apparently he can bowl a handy off break.
