I have been feeding these beautiful magpies that come around most mornings and evenings to our house. One of them is so friendly he comes and sits next to me and calls out to me and I can handfeed him. I called him Jemmy after the GOAT Magpie aerialist.

Please stop feeding wild animals. Chances are you're not feeding them the food they'd get from the wild and you're also creating a dependence.

A healthy food to feed magpies is porridge oats. Mrs Drover didn’t believe me until she tried it, she has 5 maggies that turn up looking for it. I wish she wouldn’t because they shit all over my recently restored veranda.

You are contributing to making Jemmy fat. He will probably still be able to fly but not really that good and another cooler magpie will fly better than him. Then when all the magpies get together to review their best flights of the year the cooler magpie will win and Jemmy will have a bit of a public meltdown about it in front of all the other magpies which will be very embarrassing for him

Magpies can be horrible birds. If their young don’t FRO and find their own territory the parents will sometimes kill their young.

No the only magpies that take take that popularity contest award seriously are the really dumb magpies, the ones that have studied aerodynamics and skill at a high level understand that Jemmy is the best aerialist.
