Reports today the AB DeVilliers manager is shopping him to clubs...who could actually land him?
Perth would have cap space. Stars maybe.

Ingram not coming over next BBL.

I may not actually be able to contain myself if AB De Villiers ends up in Adelaide, seriously love that bloke.

Big loss as he's a bloody good player, but yes if AB ends up replacing him then happy days. Daresay it will be a Sydney or Melbourne team that gets him though.

I find it intriguing how much hype there seems to be around AB De Villiers coming to play in the big bash when I feel like there was no hype around him coming to play in Australia whenever he came here with South Africa. Its like now in retirement the general population has only just realised he is an absolute star.

Yeah it is a bit strange. Still, I love that he's coming out here, he's genuinely my favourite batsman in the world to watch when he's on.

And when he pulls off those freakish shots it's like "This is so unfair. Why is he allowed to be that good?"

Ingram was better last year but I think overall he has been underwhelming in the big bash. A pass as an international signing and that is about it. His best work has been done outside of Australia.

Agree his peak has been outside the big bash, but absolutely still was their most important batsman and the one held in highest regard by the opposition. Captaincy and bowling option rounds out his criticality. Will do well if they can find a satisfactory replacement, especially since it's basically a given that AB is going to be in Sydney.

Ingram didn't do much in the IPL either, not a good player of spin.

What would you do?
I'm not senior in CA but I would have thought third party deals, paid in $US, perhaps small liberties taken with the salary cap. The BB was pretty lacklustre last summer and they need to get guys like him onboard.

Maybe they need to set a local salary cap and let teams buy their overseas players outside the cap, be the only way to attract better talent and not force a team to rid their local talent to afford them
Combine that and a more condensed tournament IMO and then it’d be a lot easier for the BBL to attract talent and revitalise the tournament
