I know what you're referring to......session musicians. And yes, they used them. But they had a core group of musicians that were used right through...........the Beatles, when they used other people, scattered it everywhere.
And can I point out that Brian used session musicians when his vision required more people..........his sound is far superior, it needed more complex arrangements.
As far as the actual band MEMBERS go, yes all of them were involved on No 1 records.
Again I ask your point..............
Obviously all the Beach Boys were involved in No 1 singles and records. You're failing to understand my point.
My statement / point is this. The Beatles were the only band where each individual member sung lead vocals on a song & that single reached number 1 in both the US & UK. For example, Ringo Starr (Yellow Submarine), George Harrison (Something) and John Lennon & Paul McCartney obviously having a series of number 1 singles each where they sang lead for the band.
Now, did the Beach Boys match this? Or was the band made up of one average lead vocalist compared to the combined genius of four of the greatest all round musicians & vocalists of all time.
And don't get me started about quality of lyrics between the 2 bands. The Beatles could find something to sing & celebrate other than surf & daddy's T-Bird!!!
