Nice little article in tha Age this morn on Beamers improved season figures.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/beams-me-up-pie-rising-20120803-23l00.html

The improvement in 2012 is exponential, and there is debate as to the reasons behind his explosion in his fourth season. A few people have put it down to his being driven after missing the grand final last year, when he broke down in tears as he told coach Mick Malthouse his groin was too sore to play. But he denies this. ''It's hard personally, but when you put the team first, it's not as hard as it sounds. I don't regret any of it,'' he said.
The real reason, he believes, is personal maturity. ''I've never doubted my ability as a footballer and to play at the top level,'' he said. ''I think those first few years, you get caught up in it all. I think I've matured as a person this year and been able to consistently get the performances that I want, instead of a good one here and a bad one there. It gives you great confidence.''

It's amazing when you find balance in your personal life how it translates into your professional life.

Well done Beamer!

Well done Beamer!

Loving Beamers season. I am superstitious though. It always seems that whenever there is an article about a player on the day of a game they have a poor game. In the case of Beams though I am not worries. His consistency is incredible.

That was a nice story on Beams,y and it seems like he is becoming a well rounded person and a bloke who is maturing rapidly, great to hear he has bought a home in Melbourne and has his sister and his mate living with him.

Even better than this he speaks in the manner which the club and the supporters will love, when he is talking about he has his mates with him at the club and why would he leave to go elsewhere.I really like the part where he has bought a house that suggests he see,s a long term future at Collingwood and will be staying.

Ps Thanks for the link Jonb much appreciated we do not get much information about football up here and these stories you and the other boys put links too are great for me.:thumbsu:

''We've got a great group at the moment. I've got a lot of friends at the footy club and people I like spending time with. Why would I go anywhere? Our supporters are great, the history behind the club is fantastic and the facilities we've got are great. It's where I want to spend the rest of my playing career.''

Loyalty.

So am I! I even go as far as to avoid the papers on the day we are playing in case there are stories on our players - but jumping on this site doesn't help.

The more I hear from him the more I want to put no 17 on the back of my jumper.
But then I feel like I'd be cheating on Pendles, cos I've been meaning to get his number for a few years...

Love that part. :thumbsu:

Nice to see loyalty and mateship survives at the club. The lad had some dramas off field and the club stood by him, now he is repaying in the only currency worth having. :thumbsu:
