Beams or Paul Williams?

Willow was a favourite of mine. I don't really care to compare him and Beams, just wanted to let the cosmos know that I liked Williams a lot.

Dayne Beams a far better player.
Williams was a wonderful young player for us and then etched a terrific career but beams just superior overall.

That is correct.

When he started with us, when he spoke he was like a cute shy child, all tangled and shy. Was very endearing.
He, as you do, matured.
Really good player.

Willo and Beams are not similar at all. Willo was a speedster that took the game on, Beams is more an attacking mid without that burst.

With all due respect to Beema I'd take Willo, absolute jet.

I don't see many similarities as players.

If I was choosing between peak Beams and peak Williams I'd go Beams. A more complete player.

But Willo was still a jet. A combo of pace and a penetrating kick is always effective.

Beams wins more of the ball and he is probably consistent.

But if you want a gamebreaker and match winner it is Willow.

Yeah much quicker, more agile and more penatrating kick. Williams also line breaker.

Same here mate, Willo could light up the G! Losing him is one of the many things I just can't process.

Williams was a star. Kicked goals, attacking runs and just a champ. Was shattered when left the pies. Was in of my favourites.

I would have traded in Willo ahead of Beams if that was the option at the end of last year.

Beams is probably the better statistically but Williams was just so fun to watch.

I vote Williams as well. Dynamic player, great half forward, and useful midfielder with great pace and a great long kick for goal on the run.

Agree the Beams comparison isn't great. He is more like Treloar, but played his best football at half forward.

Beams is a ball magnet in the mould of Sam Mitchell or Greg Williams (not as good as those two though). Willo was a classic Winger, an outside mid with speed, balance and great skills.
I'd have both because they'd compliment each others games so well.

Ok, then in a tight GF with it all on the line I'll take Beamer. The ball follows him. Willo, as good as he was, needed that little bit of help to get the ball so that he could have an influence.

Better player overall.

Ofcourse the longer Williams is retired the better he’ll become

Terrific player but Beams is a step above in my view.
