**** that, Beams will be a gun.
No secret that Beams wanted to play in Melbourne.
I remember reading a poster over at nicks I think that worked with Beams old man and quoted him as saying something like "Dayne wants to play in the heartland of AFL and not in Queensland".
Things can change, but I reckon if I was drafting a young boy from Queensland right now, I'd want to be pretty confident that he was going to stay put. The fact he wanted to be at Collingwood has to mean something.
He already flat out rejected the GC, and wanted to play for Collingwood over his other home state team in Brisbane. And from the interviews I've seen of his he seems extremely level headed and doesn't seem like the type to turn his back on his club. You can tell that by the way he plays also.
Seriously I reckon we're more chance of losing other players than Beams, but I reckon we're in a good position. We draw the crowds and exposure, and have the best facilities. I don't think many players would want to give up what you've got at Collingwood.
