boy just needs time and support ! the club will surround him and give him comfort in spades . he will lead again just at the right time !

very courageous decision . shows just why he is held in such awe by the team

I've always been a massive fan of Beams and have admired how he's played since crossing to Brisbane.

I'm amazed he's playing this well given the emotional toll. It's a real credit to the man, to both play this well and know when to prioritise the team. Real team stuff.

Wish him all the best and to your club, building a good culture up there.

Could see a transition next year, but I don't think putting Andrews in half way through the year would be the correct call.

I’d say 2020 is most likely - Harris will be 22/23 (I think) and another 18 mths without full responsibilities would be good.

Zorks needs to lay off the 'brain snaps' and silly 50 metre penalties. I would go to Mitch Robinson and then have Andrews as a medium term prospect.

Would probably be a good time for Berry to move into the leadership group too

I don't think he will lead again and that's ok. He always said he wasn't naturally drawn to leadership. I think even if he gets in a better head space in 12 months time, he won't want to take the reigns back off Zorko once he is up and running. I believe this means Zorks is the captain of our club going forward, I would assume they will see how he goes this season and then do the usual vote at the start of a new season 9which unless he royally screws up, he will get again). I hope Zorks is a uniting leader, Beams was incredible during our time of need and got everyone united, we can't afford for the group to splinter.

A brave interview, being a 50+ year old bloke I find it very pleasing that more males are finally learning that it is okay to call out for help if they are feeling sadness/depression – and equally proud to hear that his Collingwood friends and supporters are also ‘getting around him’ - strength in numbers!

I’m totally respectful of Beams standing aside and like you, not overly enamoured that Zorko is our “captain”, particularly in light of his on field antics and the ease with which he cracks the shits and gets stuck into umps and stages for free kicks. I’d like to think that is the last we’ll see of that behaviour.

Having said, I too would look outside the leadership group and appoint Martin or a Robinson as you’ve pointed out. I am really looking forward to the day an Andrews or Berry is the sole skipper, although I doubt the club would make such an appointment until 2020 at the earliest.

I do wish Beams all the very best without the added responsibility and if I means taking time out of the game; I’d be supportive of that too.

Zorko is a good leader when he's not acting up, and this a is a great chance for him to take the next step in his career as an on field leader and set high standards. He's got Hodgie to help him and I reckon he can do it.

Can't help but give a clip to those knocking him, calling him washed up, saying we should drop him (yes that happened) throughout his ordeal, I argued in his defense every time it happened. People even saying there is no evidence that his Father was effecting his form etc and it was not related, it was just - clearly incorrect, insensitive and crap all round.
Why was this necessary? This is not an opportunity to attack others, nor bignote yourself.

I’m more excited for Harris as a vice-captain than Dayne as captain.

Fully respect Binga for his actions, takes a real man to speak out and say things aren’t 100% and he needs some time.

Today marks the beginning of what will eventually be Harris Andrews as captain.

Further to that; I only recall people either questioning Beams’ longevity due to how much his body will hold or that he should be rested to deal with the loss of his Father / new child etc. because his head was elsewhere, which is essentially what Beams said and what many here today we saying; that is, it would be understandable if he took time away from the club / game ala Schache in the middle of last year.

well done Binga, brave and right decision. wish you all the best with that great weight of responsibility off your back.

Zorko will be ok, he is a good media performer, loves the club, has a passion for the game and winning and I believe only one of a few players we have that can change a game within a few minutes with a bit of x-factor. Until the start of this year very consistent in performance. With Hodge there all will be fine. with that extra responsibility now I think Zorko will settle some of the silly stuff that he comes out with now and then he did cop a public beating over the non shaking of hands, i think that cut him to size and it ultimately did change his form from woeful to All Australian again.

Yep after a shocking start to the year I was very critical of him. Couldn’t fault his last 3 weeks it’s like a different person running around. Leading by example by his actions on the field that’s for sure. Gonna back him in 100% and excited to see how he goes this week.

Zorks had the pregame huddle speech on Sunday , so it seems he already had taken some responsibility, he'll be fine.

I reckon Beams was his best for a while on the weekend - wonder if the decision was already made and that was the reason behind him playing more freely.

Grief can be all consuming. Hopefully the birth of his son in the next month will help to re-balance him and bring him some peace. Thoughts with Claye as well. Hopefully a little easier for him without the national spotlight on him.
