Robinson isn't exactly a saint himself. Lol.
I know, but he would be a Nathan Jones type leader and he talks a lot on the field / has a great on field presence

At one point last week near us Mitch indicated that the crowd should lift and cheer more. Loved that he is trying to get not only the team but the crowd going.

I saw that and loved it.

Ballsy move, but the best one I think.

Not sure how I feel about Zorko taking on the number 1 position though, especially now that he has found his form again. Hopefully it has a positive impact on both Daynes.
I've noticed that Zorko has been the one who seems to be addressing the team in the huddles and before bounce down.

Usually someone else does while the captain tosses the coin. Or maybe he’s just better at it.

I understand Claye is injured at the moment too (again), and on the verge of being delisted. Must be tough. Would have loved to see the brothers play again soon.

Apparently he was expecting to be delisted at the end of last year. There was something about having finished or almost finished an apprenticeship and he was preparing to get on with that.

Life sucks when it gives you the skills and the work ethic but not the body.

Sometimes when I'm bored I play the old AFL game on my phone. In the game Claye never got inured and ended up peaking at 85 and was a super wingman. Could mark, kick and run. Sad what could have been, but he's had a really good run all things considered.

Wasn't he getting interested in the Welfare side of things and looking at that as a future career or was that someone else?

People really didn't like this theory when I said it last year, but I really think claye will be around for another couple of years, given the families connection to the club and Daynes position in all this.

I think this is great for him and his family, I have some reservations about Zorko being captain, he loses his head a fair bit and gets a bit carried away during games, but I think he should do well in the role and is the obvious choice.

Agree. There’s no logical other choice but he’s a bit of a risk. A bit rough around the edges a la Rockliff. As Noble said it is fortunate that Hodge is around.

I saw that to, and I thought he was directing it to where the opposition supporters are next to their tunnel.
It was like someone jeered him and he was saying bring it on I cant hear you, give it to me.

What an outstanding man Dayne Beams has grown into.

In some ways, his legacy as captain became even more special when he had the courage to give it up.

And an incredible example for young men struggling mentally/emotionally to reach out and ask for help.

Just brilliant.

The boys absolutley love him too, he is just one of those people. God send for the club at a desperate time of need in terms of leadership.

Just watched the interview. Brought some tears to my eyes cause it reminded me of how I was when my father died. He died from suicide but watching Dayne say “I’ve got professional help, family is first” wish I took that advice, instead of being stupid, drinking, denying it happened and pushing away family and friends.

I eventually did get help but I should of done it at the start.

Good on you beama. Obviously made the best choice! Chin up champion

This was a thing, Beams told Fages Saturday and Zorks was worded up apparently. That image of him and witho leading them down the race holds more value now, knowing he knew it was his last time as skip. What a weekend, jesus.

Was it with the out of the locker roommate group?? I know there is at least one player who has done something with them.

I vaguely remember something about this but Rich comes to mind. Whoever it was was doing some Psychology subjects.

To be honest I like my interpretation better - fits my belief that mitch is an all round reformed great guy. Truth is often overrated.

I think Mitch and his mate Charlie simply like interacting with and feeding off the energy of the crowd, friendly or hostile.

Drifting away from the thread premise here though.

This really has been one of those weeks that suck you right back in as a fan. Our club has some great people, on and off the paddock.

Your brave to share that, well done and thank you.
