If you read this properly, what he is saying is that "Potentially, there might be rumours of Vic clubs, maybe thinking, there might be a chance at some undisclosed random time in the future, Dayne could be henpecked".
It really is a non-specific, spitballing fantasy tale that Tom has dreamed up to appear interesting. Tom says stuff to get people to look at Tom. He also thinks himself an expert on missing MH370.

I am not saying this is the case. But often it is the players manager / camp that leaks the story to the press. So as it starts circulating and is less of a shock announcement if and when it is announced. The public and members of the club have a few months to get their heads around it and it also allows the clubs to prepare offers, with more public interest putting pressure on them to land the player at their club.
