A good time for it considering he is in rehab and not able to participate on the track much. Probably puts an end to any hope he will return this year in finals. Let's hope he is right for 2020.

Hopefully he can address the fairly significant issues he's currently facing.

Good luck, Dayne. Come back bigger, better & both physically/mentally healthier.

Theres a good time to have a lapse in mental health? I get that you are taking the glass half full approach, but kind of a poor take, IMO.

From purely a club, rather than personal perspective, this has to be one of the worst trades in recent memory.

Came across for the cost of two first round draft picks, with existing hip and mental health issues (among others), to fill a need that we didn't have. Sier has stalled in the meantime too.

Someone needs to be accountable.

Yeah I feel for Beams' personal well being of course but questions need to be asked, did we let the romanticism of a returning prodigal son cloud our judgement on getting a 29 year old with mental health issues at a high price. This could turn out a costly exercise with little return from a strictly club related point of view. An error if you will.

That's the spirit!

Don't wish him well or anything. Just lay the boots in.

Too soon.

Beams has done far more for our 2019 campaign than any 2018 or 2019 first round pick would have.

And he’s still a good chance of being a solid contributor over the next few seasons.

It's a reality. Everyone hopes Beams gets well but the fact is it's a professional, cut throat industry. We didn't give up draft capital and sign him to a contract worth over a million for what we look like receiving in return. In reality we could have lost a chance at the next Grundy over this. It's not unthoughtful to hold the club to accountability over their decision. You can separate Beams well being and the trade.

It’s looking like an error, but you never know. Main thing is Beamer’s well-being.

I'm sure he'll be rapt when he comes here to check the posts out, as will his family. Just hearing about how we bombed the trade and what he's "cost" us will just put a big smile on their faces.

We are cursed as a club. Name another club that has had as many off field issues as the pies over the last decade?

Not to mention over the years the perenial 10-15 names on the injury list.

Get well Beams. Take your time to address your physical and mental issues.

But I'm sick of the constant s### at Collingwood.

Well if he is out seeking that maybe that is the cause of his issues. He shouldn't be on social media and googling his own name because he obviously can't handle it. You can't pick and choose, accept the professional contract, accept the responsibility and scrutiny that comes with it. He gets more than the Prime Minister.

What has what he gets paid have to do with anything?

We recruited Beams as "icing on the cake" to win this years premiership. IMO anything less and the Beams trade is a fail. I highly doubt Beams plays again this year and without him we can't achieve that goal.

Yes it’s looking to be a mistake. But it’s not just the prodigal son factor. If any players come with any risk injury or otherwise then that risk should be factored in a trade time. Offsetting that of course is the talent factor and that can always cloud thinking. Not an easy balance.

It’s done now. All we can do is wish him the best and hope he returns 100 percent in the new year.
