I think the club was gunning to get both Beams and May with their two first round draft picks but Brisbane held firm, from this perspective CFC overpaid. If the club was in a position to offer a top 5 first round draft pick and a future top 10, the deal might have got done...

Melbourne had to use pick 6 to get May which they got from losing Hogan. We were never going to be able to retain our top players whilst getting Beams and May in the same trade period

Once Moore and Langdon Re-Signed it made it pretty much Impossible to get Both

May was a contingency only in case Moore walked. There was never a legitimate chance of gaining May and Beams without sacrificing another key player. Melbourne were always in the box seat once they lost Hogan.

Correct.

The only way to get high valued talent is to part with big value (draft pick or player).

If Moore is healthy we will not feel a may angst; very excited by what Moore should bring.

May was legit

He was holding back waiting for us to make the deal but understood it was reliant on Moore or Langdon moving on. We were his preference we just weren’t able to do it

Pies will go hard next year especially looking at Haynes, Tomlinson and a Richmond defender ( don’t know which one as yet )

Bit like how Judd wanted to come to Collingwood but there was no way we could do the Trade.

Tomlinson bit like Leon Davis as just about all Trade Periods as Reported to go Home but has Not.

Would we try to lure Coniglio via free agency?

Anyway, Sydney still would not have had the currency available for either Moore or Langdon that could be offered to Suns for May that could legitimately beat what Melbourne were offering.

May could of Demanded to get Traded to us

He could have, but that would not have gotten him very far. He was still in contract, Suns held the power.

Well we could of said he can go back to Suns this Season and we Sign him as a Free Agent Next Year

Maybe we did say that. But it's clear the Suns didn't want to deal with another year of that.

Though you can't Blame Them to be like that.

Got a Higher pick they would of got next year

So you agree with me.

"It was reliant on Moore or Langdon moving on"

Pretty much what I said.

David Astbury is out of contract and a restricted free agent next year. He'd make a lot of sense as we'd be looking at someone to replace Dunn in the near future.

That’s the plan.

Be so good if he gets up and about.

May claimed during that interview on The Trade Table that he basically preferred Melbourne, and why. I feel like once he met with Melbourne, he wanted to go with them. Unless of course he had to say that given they were in a better position to get the deal done, and we never would have.

The Suns wanted to move him on. Cleaned house for players that didn't want to be there. But as stated, they held the power given he was under contract. Bit like Brisbane in a sense.

? May is a very good defender who has been stuck in a horrible team.

At Melbourne he'll be pushing AA
Yep so he has had an opportunity to see plenty of the footy. One of their most experienced players yet couldn’t finish in the top 10 of their B&F. Scraped in at 9th in 2017. Rory Thompson is a better defender for them.

Give Moore 15 games in defence and you will see how much better he is than May.

Would almost guarantee that's why he said it - he may well have not even had a preference, just wanted to get to Victoria somehow.

His statement that was along the lines of "Melbourne just convinced me more how I would fit in to the side" (I think that's what he said) did not ring true to me because any team he met with could have told him how he would fit into a side as a gun key defender.
