Biggest problem is Dangerfield. He has carved us up twice this season. Maybe deboer could do the job.

My thoughts exactly, I caught the Swans and Adelaide game and Danger blew his beans pretty early by running around really hard and not doing much. Can't see that happening again. Another option might be to put one of our creative players on him, a Hill or a Mundy.

Adelaide be red hot keen not to go out in two so they wont lie down.

Dangerfield is the obvious danger and Walker also I thinks a risk without McPharlap playing. Obviously Tippet is another, dont need to run him into form.

Win the midfield and keep the ball in our half of the ground. Give Pavlich a paddock to play in, and we should be fine.
Lose the midfield, and we'll lose the game.

We do exactly what we have been doing for the last couple of months. We hit them hard, tackle, harass and shut them down then kick long and out number them all over the ground.

Edit: Tragic news for Port Adelaide with John Mcarthy suffering a fatal accident overnight in Las Vegas.

1. Get the footy.

2. Kick it to Pav.
THIS!

I think we will be coming in with a structure better equipped to manage walker with silvagni in compared to last time. Along with the additions of Sandy and Fyfe to boost our midfield. The question mark does remain with dangerfield though. Not sure many of our players (short of hill) would have the tank?

Crowley has gone to Thompson in both games and kept him down, I suspect that won't change. The key is that either Sloane (game 1) and Dangerfield (game1, game 2) have killed us. In game 2, we were asleep in defense with Walker off the leash.

BUT, the biggest killer of all has been one MATTHEW WRIGHT. Absolutely smashed it in both games against us. If he does it again I'll spew, its one thing to be beat by champions but another to be beat by a nobody.

Was he that joker who steaming up and down the wings in the last game, kicked an amazing running goal?

It's extremely sad and unfortunate what has happened to young McCartney at port, however, it's highly possible that this will have some affect on the crows players in a two team fish bowl town.

In game 2, we had no Fyfe or Sandilands. McPharlin was missing due to suspension (so no different this week), Mayne went off at half time after a knock to the head. Roberton played as Silvagni was also a late omission so we were short a key defender. Tahlia is injured, held Pavlich quite well last time, things will be different this time, hopefully enough moving in our direction for the win.

Bit rough. Wright is a high quality player. Just doesnt get the media attention of Sloane/Dangerfield

I think Pearce went to Sloane last time around? I'd be tempted to run with that tag again was pretty effective, along with the proven Thompson tag.

Team defence and the all round pressure we saw against the Cats is the way to go with regards to Dangerfield, could chuck Deboer or Mzungu on him if things go pear-shaped. Ultimately, back our mids in the clearances and hunting the man when the ball goes the other way.

Deboer on Dangerfield, use his tackling and ferociousness to let him know. We need to have a player in front of him to avoid his fast breaks and long balls into their 50, did that numerous times last AAMI last time. Crowley again on Thompson. The biggest positive is Silvagni is playing this time around so he goes to Walker possibly, freeing Johnson to be third big man. Really need to take advantage of Talia being out and exploit crows by having Pav one on one, possibly with Rutten.

I'd be happy to see DeBoer go head to head with Danger. Wouldn't like to see a hard tag though. DeBoer in my opinion is one of our most important players in this finals series and don't want to see him compromise his own game.

... The biggest positive is Silvagni is playing this time around so he goes to Walker possibly, freeing Johnson to be third big man. ...

This is massively significant. Silvagni's late withdrawal last time meant we had to reshuffle the whole backline and we therefore lost most of Johnson's rebound (as well as losing Luke!). Johnson had only 12 disposals against Adelaide - his second lowest count of the year. Our backline with Silvagni will be a couple of goals tighter than last time, but more importantly, we will rebound heaps better. Our forward line will also get an easier run with Talia out and limited options to replace him. Our midfield gains Fyfe and Sandilands from last time. Another significant point from the last game is that we were hammered by the umpires. The free kick count was very lopsided (23-12 from memory).

I didn't tip us to win the Derby. I didn't tip us to beat the Kangaroos. I didn't tip us against Geelong. But I'll be tipping us this week.

How about continuing the trend then and tipping Adelaide, please? We didn't happen to go too badly in those games.

I don't tip us to win very often. I only tipped us to win 11 times during the H&A season this year, and we won 10 of those games (the outlier being the Essendon game). So, I'm pretty accurate when I tip us. But more importantly, I can guarantee you that I will be wearing my purple undies on Friday night. They have an excellent win/loss record.

Can we close down the memories thread and just have one game preview thread. Will get more cred if mems name is not on the header.

For my part even though they have done us twice this year you look through their lineup and there is not alot of depth or star power. After reading the preview thread on their board Losing Talia is massive for them. Very inexperienced replacements. Hopefully Pav is close to 100% and will take them to the cleaners if we give him some OK supply. Also even though keps has been ok and provides a good contest I wonder if we will bring in Clarke who is still very mobile to further stretch their defence.

They have Tippett as second ruck and even talk of him following Sandi when he goes forward.

Get Crowely on Dangerfield this time I think - may be too quick though. We need or midfield to break even and we have a huge chance of winning.

I am getting more confident for freo as the week is going.

Well, the Talia problem has sorted itself out for us...
Indeed, the Midfield learnt how to kick last weekend to Pav. That was the problem v the Crows, not Talia. His performance in that game was severely overrated.
