I have on pretty good authority from one connection at Hawthorn that Beau Dowler has expressed his desire to join Carlton. I thought it was far fetched when I heard it myself. Apparently, he has a few very close mates at Carlton (don't know who??)

Of course, this is not the main reason for him wanting to leave Hawthorn. He is supposedly a fair way off getting a gig at the Hawks....who knows he may think he'd be a chance to crack it at Carlton. I'm not really sure if he is a decent player or not but he was a top-10 draft pick a few years ago.

Supposedly Carlton has NOT pursued him whatsoever and it has ALL been initiated by Dowler himself. Might be interesting to see what happens during trade week..... :thumbsu:

I think he's best friends with Marc Murphy.

Would be a good get if we could get him in the PSD. Right now he's more of a KPF (kicked 7 in the VFL a couple of weeks ago) but we could turn him into a defender.

Yeh, he is. Murphy said straight after the draft how he was hoping Dowler got picked by the Blues with Pick 4.

As Nightwolf said, why would he sign a two year extention if he wants to join Carlton?

Considering the rehab we've put into him (and the fact he's slowly beginning to get his confidence with bags of 6 and 7 in the VFL after his injury), only bodes well for us.

He would cost a lot and won't fit into our forward line.

If we got him cheap which won't happen, and if we could turn him into a defender, then I wouldn't mind it.

I can't see it happening.

I think the fact that we couldn't fit him into our forward line is untrue.

Fev, Fisher are our two performing forwards

Waite has been a swing man this season, while Kennedy has not yet fully developed.

A leading forward like Dowler would be fantastic - and even better if we traded off Fev during the trade period.

I just highly doubt he'll move from Hawthorn though. Highly touted prospect - they wouldn't want to let him go either.

Didn't he break his leg in a car accident on the way to training last year??
Hip* was wheelchair bound for about 5 months, was never going to realisticly press for selection untill next year, anything else was a bonus to him

For anyone interested and who has the means to do so - rewatch the National Draft Selections of 2005.

Im pretty sure Beau thought he was headed to Carlton at pick #4 - however, watch his face and his reaction to being picked up by Hawthorn.

This is not a troll btw.

I know what you're talking about, but I put that expression down to him being just relieved that he was picked up; I mean he'd just come out of a car crash with a shattered pelvis, he would have feared the worst.

IIRC Carlton showed the most interest in him and talked to him more than any other club.

You won't get him. Had he really wanted to go to the Blues, he would have refused to sign a contract and would either have demanded a trade or threatened to walk in the PSD.

By the way, the source that told the OP about Dowler's desire to go to Carlton - would he/she be the same source that told everybody about Dowler's desire to go to Richmond next year because he's a Richmond supporter?
