Edwards has had consistant injuried throughout his career, not just at the start like Dowler. You can't blame an injury 2 years ago for current performances.
Shattered pelvis's are one of the worst injuries you can have. You really can't use it as an excuse, admittedly, but it completely literally 'shatters' the confidence of a player and makes them reluctant to crash into packs until their confidence recovers.

Correct! I think all hawthorn supporters are expecting him to really start to show something next year.

The same can be said of many injuries. The best get over them and get on with it. He had that injury pre draft so its no excuse for Hawthorn.

But he's a key position player and they take time so you'd be far from ruling him out at this point.

Well there you go.
Add Thorp to the mix as well, and you cannot see Dowler getting a game, unless of course it is in the back half. Perhaps he sees himself having limited opportunities at Hawthorn, and wants to move on. Perhaps the Doggies might be interested.
Just signed a 2 year deal, along with Muston and Boyle... i think...

Chinese whispers............:D

Cracked to broken to shattered..........next it will have been crushed and by this time tomorrow he will have recovered from having his pelvis removed, put through a grinder and put back in upside down!

It is true, pelvic fractures are difficult to recover from and sometimes people who have them never fully recover their agility.

Good luck to him.

I have on pretty good authority from one connection at Hawthorn that Beau Dowler has expressed his desire to join Carlton. I thought it was far fetched when I heard it myself. Apparently, he has a few very close mates at Carlton (don't know who??)

Of course, this is not the main reason for him wanting to leave Hawthorn. He is supposedly a fair way off getting a gig at the Hawks....who knows he may think he'd be a chance to crack it at Carlton. I'm not really sure if he is a decent player or not but he was a top-10 draft pick a few years ago.

Supposedly Carlton has NOT pursued him whatsoever and it has ALL been initiated by Dowler himself. Might be interesting to see what happens during trade week..... :thumbsu:
Lets hope so Dowler will we make all the difference

For anyone interested and who has the means to do so - rewatch the National Draft Selections of 2005.

Im pretty sure Beau thought he was headed to Carlton at pick #4 - however, watch his face and his reaction to being picked up by Hawthorn.

This is not a troll btw.
He was probably hoping to join his Chargers teammate Marc Murphy at Carlton. ;)

God knows how many goals Murphy created for Dowler with his laces out passes. :thumbsu:

 Mark Murphy could be one, I think that they played at the Oakleigh chargers together.

Jake EdwardsPersonal InfoBirthJanuary 6, 1988 (1988-01-06) (age 19),Recruited fromWestern Jets (Vic)Height/Weight192cm / 82kg

Beau DowlerPersonal InfoBirth16 December 1987(1987-12-16),Recruited fromOakleighHeight/Weight194.6cm / 84kg

so which one has more upside

Dowler by far..he's played seniors in a good team, kicked 7 goals in the reserves and came back from a broken pelvis..the guy deserves an award!! Edwards....i think his best his 3 goals in the vfl in how many years??

They were picked up in the same year and Edwards has had far more injuries issues in his short career than Dowler has had.
