Hip* was wheelchair bound for about 5 months, was never going to realisticly press for selection untill next year, anything else was a bonus to him

Given that Buddy, Roughie and Boyle are all pretty well cemented in Hawthorns forward line, Dowler is going to find it very hard IMHO to break in there. Perhaps his options are elsewhere.

For anyone interested and who has the means to do so - rewatch the National Draft Selections of 2005.

Im pretty sure Beau thought he was headed to Carlton at pick #4 - however, watch his face and his reaction to being picked up by Hawthorn.

This is not a troll btw.

Is this still available on afl.com C4?

Wouldn't Mitch Thorp also be ahead of him?

Dowler is more of a FF than Buddy/Boyle/Roughhead.

He had pace and used to be crash and bash - he would fly for the mark and even if he didnt take it, he'd crash the pack and cause a spillage.

I haven't seen him recently as Box Hill are absolute garbage to watch - I wonder if he still plays that way now - if not, wonder if he'll ever return to being the same player again ?

I saw Dowler more of a lead and mark man. Poor mans Reiwoldt for mine. Not that it's a bad thing. Brilliant kick for goal.

Remember him getting knocked out alot in the TAC, didn't know how to protect himself.

Is that really you?

If you know C4, he constantly gives it to Beau but deep down i reckon he'd love him at Carlton.

His confidence has sky rocketed after his AFL game this year. Kicked 7 in a VFL game and has consistently chipped in with a few as well. I have no doubt with better delivery at AFL lvel, he could be a handy Forward Flank in the future. Apparently his crash has halted him much, much longer than expected.

And Thorp is apprarently the next player in line to play as a key forward.

What's going on with Dowler anyway? Have to say I always thought he'd be the player picked early in that draft who was most likely to fail and I haven't been convinced otherwise since.

Does anyone know the difference in stats for Edwards and Dowler such as height and weight!!

coz considering if we were even thinking about picking up Dowler then Edwards would be one to get the chop from the blues!

All it takes is one serious injury and hes in. Can never have too much depth.
As suggested, i reckon Thorp, while maybe wanting to be a CHF, will be a CHB. He wont have much of a choice in the matter. Maybe he'll have a Hunter type role and pinch hit up forward on occasions.
Dowler is garbage down back.

Well there you go.
Add Thorp to the mix as well, and you cannot see Dowler getting a game, unless of course it is in the back half. Perhaps he sees himself having limited opportunities at Hawthorn, and wants to move on. Perhaps the Doggies might be interested.

Probably Dowler based on his junior record and VFL performances, although both have done pretty much nothing.

Dowler wins because hes had an excuse because of broken pelvis, starting to stamp his foot down at VFL however

Edwards has had consistant injuried throughout his career, not just at the start like Dowler. You can't blame an injury 2 years ago for current performances.
