James Squire Golden Ale & the Pilsener would be the two best of the JS range imo.

Picked up a carton of the James Squire Amber Ale a week back, not bad at all. Have reliably been informed their 'Chancer' is superior, however.

They flick cans of that Amber Ale to you on Qantas flights at the moment and I'm not sure if its just the can thing (beer is always better in glass) but I'm not that keen on it.

I took the can of VB last time in preference to the James Squire

Love the Amber Ale but I didn't think much of the Chancer.

If you like a good Pilsner, try Mac's Rock Hopper from NZ. Has the old school ring pull tops in a traditional stubby. Really good drink.

+1, however even James Squire have played around with their brewing recently and it doesn't taste the same as it once did (pre all their 'branding' changes)

Last day of my 5 week A/L, only one thing for it on a day such as today

I don't drink West End because it's RS, but even if I did I wouldn't recoil in horror if they sponsored Port, they basically have from the beginning anyway and us until not that long ago. I wonder if VIP will drop us as Premier Partner (or vice versa) if they sign on as one of your majors?

Southwark Stout is delicious. Better than Coopers although it can be very expensive.

Just spent 10 days at a shack at Wallaroo. All I drank was WE Draught cans. I now crave them. 30 cans for $42 also represents excellent value. Cans are also are great for the boat and also if you have kids around. After 2 decades, I think I've officially turned into an old codger who drinks West End Draught.

Will give it a crack.

Best Pilsner ive tried is the St Arnou Pilsner. Micro brewery in NSW. Best beer on earth. Also do a mean Pale.

Try the '150 Lashes' Pale Ale. Its the pick of the bunch.

Will do.

They had a James Squire on tap at the Port Club that wasn't bad, but given the fellas behind the bar kept going 'you realise it's 8 bucks dontya?', it didn't last long.

Massive fan of James Squire, especially the sundowners. Also White Rabbit, a brewery in Vic, do some nice stuff.
White Rabbit is quality.

Largs Pier sell it, I asked my friend to collect me one and deliver on Saturday, how much is a carton?

What is a Pilsner anyway?

Yep, yellow label. Think they have a dark ale as well, maybe in a brown label.

Got a couple in the fridge at home waiting for me...

The dark ale is a predominantly white label, the nicest dark ale I've had by a mile.

A carton will set you back about $65 to $70

If anyone gets a chance to try a brew from the "Woolshed" Brewery give it a shot. Their Dark Ale is one of my favourites of all time.

My good mate is the head brewer, and its won a few awards now and going great guns. From the Riverland (Renmark.)

The Packaging is horrible, but its a good drop.

This is a most frustrating thread.

Every time I open it I get thirsty for beer.

Is 8am too early for a coldy?

Nope, it's 3pm somewhere in the world. I'll be on the early morning kick offs next week before the cricket.

When I first moved to Darwin years ago I was walking up the street on a mid week morning and old mate was out the front of his house mowing the lawn with a VB can in one hand.

I cam back with the paper and he had finished his mowing and was inhaling the VB. I said to him "early start on the green cans today mate?" and he replied....

"same time every day son".

What a man.

That's gold, living the dream. Kind of reminds me of the 2 half houses that sit adjacent to jarvis ford on grand junction Rd. Anyone who travels past them will know time is no issue there.

Its a lightish pale lager that originated from a brewery called Pilsner which is in the now Czech republic.

Close but no cigar, son. Pilsner is a lager that is the style from an area in Czech (the city Pilsen also known as Pils).

The difference between this lager and others is that Pilsner is bottom fermented like an ale rather than top fermented like other lagers.

Think I may be allergic to wheat. Will this be the end of my beer days or is there a wheatless beer? Or is it called cider? :(
