Why beer makes you smarter:

A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo.

And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.

This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.

Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells.

But following from the buffalo example, the beer should attack the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Its a bit early in the day for you to be this fast and efficient isn't it?:thumbsu:

After reading a few of the posts in the "Saints List Dilemma" on the main board, I definitely need some assistance - some of my brain cells have been damaged!

Serves you right for going to the main board!

Hey brothers.

Has anyone been able to track down the latest James Squire seasonal brew offering? I believe it's called Scribbly Gum.

James Squire Golden Ale is really REALLY good.
I'm originally from Tasmania so I still drink a lot of Boags and Cascade Draught if I can find it.
Cascade Pale ale is also one of my favourites, give it a go if you haven't.
Since moving here Carlton Draught has grown on me quite a bit... used to not be able to get past the thick strange taste of it.
Coopers Pale goes alright.

Heineken i think is awful, agree with whoever said it has a chemical taste.
Cascade Premium is awful.
Carlton Cold is awful.
Carona is...... um... is it beer? eugh.

The Best beer though is James Boags Premium... DELICIOUS. So stoked to see that it is reasonably cheap in Melbourne, much more expensive in Tas.

Last month I mentioned our brand refresh for the James Squire family briefly, and gave you a sneak preview of the first bottles rolling off our MSB line. All 5 members of the family have now been switched to the new packaging. This is only the second branding change since the first Amber Ale was produced back in 1998. We brewers tend to approach these changes with mixed feelings, having become so accustomed to the look of the labels & cartons it’s a bit like losing an old friend, or at least like seeing an old friend appear on your doorstep with some funky new hair cut. No doubt some of our regular drinkers are going to feel similarly. However we’ve found it takes only a few days to become accustomed to the new strip and fall in love with it. After all it’s the flavour of the beer inside the bottle that really counts.

N ice detective work there Thunda, I'm en route, well when I next get a spare moment ...

:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Yea i might actually head upto Dromana this arvo and see if i can pick up some, as i dont have anything better to do at the moment ;)

This looks as good a spot to post this :thumbsu::thumbsu:

A big day for BBG Brew. My cascade hops have broken through the earth, just waiting for the 2 others to sprout too, then I'll be harvesting hops & flavouring my own beer to my heart's content! Yay Beer!

:D with pleasure! Well, after a long layoff from brewing I decided to get back into it & try to make some stuff that's bit more advanced than the previous kits I used to run with. As my tastes lean more towards the IPAs & APAs - hop heavy Pale Ales, I thought I give it a crack with big hop combinations & malts, etc. I have a mix in atm (more to blow the cobwebs out) that's a Little Creatures Pale Ale kit with an added mix of cascade, chinook & cluster hops for additional flavour & aroma, but my expectations are realistic. My next one will be more true to the LCPA flavour with liquid & crystal malts & beefed up hops combo & specific APA yeasties. Will bottle the first batch on the weekend & get the next one started. Aiming on getting a keg setup for Christmas.

Magnificent stuff brother. What's your yield result?

Also what time should I come around for a sample? :D

*double post, so I'll change to:

Over the last few days was camping at Badger's creek so wandered up to teh WHite Rabbit brewery in Healsville, which I was really impressed with the whole setup. On the one side of the bar they had the massive stainless steal vats & all the different hops & grains they use all labelled & everything set out on a table. On the other side was the bottling & packing area. Well worth the visit if you're ever in that neck of the woods. Their dark ale is one of my favs :)

Ay yes heard very good things about BarleyCorn, good quality stuff

Coopers pale ale is my standard that I always come back to, too.

I went up to Belgrave - Oscar's Ale House (my favourite place in the world) late last week, had a pint of Mornington IPA then had a Feral Brewing Hop Hog (IPA) - now I recall what it's like to be in love again. Hard to find in the shops but well worth the hunt! (www.boozle.com.au) Followed that up with a Hargraves Hill pale ale. A great day! A very good day!
