You bet mate!
:)

Just remember those of us who bleed for our club if we end up losing. In the rapture, spare a seconds thought for us. I do it when I see mates who are shattered. A knowing nod and a pat on the back. Enemies again for next time but for the tram ride home we are still mates.

I love footy.

i like people like that way better then rubbing it in i had a lovely pie lady offer a hug cause she saw how upset i was at the end of the pre lim it is people like that that i appreciate the gracious winners they give the clubs a good name it is the other types that give them the bad names

i will shake a pies supporter hand if we win and if they will accept it if we win and offer better luck next time . i am sure they would appreciate that rather then me going off in their face that we won sort of thing , the only thing i do is yell to the air go hawks but not in any ones faces , i don't do and never will do what others have done to me as i know i don't like it so i know they would not like it either .

cheers till we meet :)

I haven't read the whole thread but I love it, hats off to the nice comments from the Geelong supporter and hawthorn ( sorry I didn't get your names down).

I love going for Collingwood, Collingwood literally is the AFL, the fans are there every week hail rain or shine whether we win lose or draw. The players are so proud to play for Collingwood (as all out) but when you look at two particular celebrations Harry O when he kicks his second in 2010 GF replay and when Travis Cloke kicks a goal just before halftime in last year GF you see how much it means to the, to be playing for the black and whites hopefully one day ( if I'm good and lucky enough) I to will be able to pull on a black and white gurnesy in the bowels of the MCG, stand behind my captain and walk out onto the G' on the last Saturday of September. It mean the world to me if I could do that play for Collingwood, it sends shivers down your spine dosen't it?

If we are to take AFL to this (wrongly) soccer rampaged world Collingwood would have to be leading the charge from the front. We've got the sponsors (Emirates) and the money (only god knows how much), the fan base (70,000+ members of LAST year), the history, the trophys (not the most but still), the playing group (Swan, Pendles even though they may not be playing when it happens we should still have top class players) and the die hard fans who want Collingwood to be the best club n the world. Thats what it means to be Collingwood, to what to be the best at everything and love trying to do it, I think.

That might not have made a lot of sense but it's the Collingwood way.
CARN THE PIES lets go all the way this year, I've got a good vibe!!!

First game of VFL footy my big brother (who was 1 year older than me) and I ever watched was Carton v Collingwood on The Winners on Channel 2.
My brother went the Blues so I went for THE MIGHTY PIES.

We had 15 odd years of debating/love/hate for each other over footy.

But when he dies mid 90s, I knew I would ALWAYS be Collingwood supporter.

Every time we play the Blues I know my brother is watching me,trying his best to curse the Pies.

Thats why I love the Coliingwood v Blues games,
But more importantly,

THATS WHY I LOVE THE PIES.

Loving this thread Morgs!

We are the biggest, boldest, bravest club. It would be ludicrous to not focus on Collingwood's size and spread if the AFL wanted to make inroads into other countries. Of course, being number 1, we would also have to take 2,3,4 with us. But we would be leading from the front, as always.

There is something about 2012 that is exciting. A new coach, a new era and a new dawn after a black day in October. I don't care what people say, we are Collingwood and can bounce back.

All these w***ers in the media will froth at the mouth, dick in hand and type up stories about us and about our players and our coaches - trying to find chinks in our armour to make us turn on ourselves. We, as the faithful, cannot let that happen. We cannot let the media and the opposition make us look inward and hurt ourselves. Pendles, Cloke, Sidey, you name it, they will be "linked" to GWS or GCS. The fact of the matter is, they are all Collingwood - living in black and white. That wont change. It cannot.

rustyg70 I am not sure what to say to you mate other than thank you for sharing that. I too lost a brother, when I was a little tacker, and he is forever with me. It is great that you can dedicate your passion for the Pies based on the passing of your brother - and the fact he was a Blues man, well, it just shows you what the passion can create.

Thanks again mate, and maintain the love for the Pies.
Sounds like your brother would not have had it any other way for you.
All the best mate.

Loving this morgues. One of these a week during the season would be good.

I would love to keep adding to the thread, and will do my best to share my thoughts about Being Collingwood.

I also would really hope people feel open to sharing their passion, love, thoughts, comments, dreams, hopes, desires and life of Collingwood. This thread can be a celebration for what makes Being Collingwood so important to us all.

I have been touched by the personal stories, and love reading them, knowing that any reason is good enough to be Collingwood. :)

most welcome ,
this passion that is in this post is why we go to the footy, it is why we love watching the game and i thought it appropriate to give Kudos where due i enjoyed reading this post and all posts after it keep up the great work :)

1990 was important for me as a dad with my son getting his first membership, dragged him along to his first one but after that he was hooked. GF day he was awake at 5am and made sure I was too! lol But it was all worth it, we left early to meet my sister who'se another Pie supporter before the game and walked arm in arm to the G.

I've always loved the G - almost as much as Vic Park - but walking with your son to his first GF is something special and fortunately it was a bloody special day. By halfway through the last quarter I was sure we had it in the bag but too many missed opportunites keep me pretty quiet until the last couple of minutes.

Walking from the G with my heart bursting out of my chest with pride and joy and seeing the joy shining from my sons face are unforgettable memories, almost worth my very long wait for a flag! lol

Apologies for the lack of replying to this thread, as they say life ain't always smooth sailing. With the help of some good friends, my loving brothers and a fair share of Jack Daniels, what felt like a tidal wave has trickled to merely a ripple...or is it now just floating there like the tip of an iceberg...haha who knows but one thing I DO know is that at the moment, I am so glad to be Collingwood.

I wanted to revive this thread for two main reasons:

1) To respond to some of the later posts

2) To try to breathe some other feelings into the current climate while we are all being Collingwood

Ah jonbe54 what a story mate you have some amazing tales to share, I am loving it! The walk to the MCG is always important, always full of excitement, anxiety, questions, laughs, the odd beer, exclamations of pride, but always a feeling of "its happening".

I have only been to one Grand Final (2011) and it was a great day, besides the ending of the game. The atmosphere was really something else...and I cannot wait to have a family of my own to take with me - will be able to get some practice with my nephew. Speaking of which, the little fella is just gone 6 months old and has already been signed up to The Club - love it.

This brings me to now

As we all know, and are used to, our footy club sells papers, tunes people in and makes them click on websites. We know it, everyone knows it, and the media knows it all too well. The problem is, we seem to have handed a "controversy" to the media on a platter, with a side serve of our president's emotional over-reactions. So the frothing at the mouth blubbering supporters of every other team have enjoyed it, maintained the exposure and lapped it up. You just have to notice the veiled enjoyment from the Carlscum supporters. Yes, you smashed us, but it is April, you aren't THAT good, and I pray to the heavens that the wheels fall off in dramatic fashion. But what really concerns me is how the last few days has so easily made an impact on us, the Magpie Army, the members, the followers, the passionate, the disinterested and the intrigued. I guess it is a reflection (however dark) of the genetic attachment the Collingwood Football Club has on our DNA. We need to come together; because combined, we are untouchable.

Yes, we can question our club after a "performance" like Friday night. We can scrutinise, anaylse, study and pore over every stat, frame of footage and misquoted soundbite - but must we turn on each other? If so, lets turn that focus into something positive, and it pains me - yes, it has really effected me - it pains me to say that we just need to focus on the positive energy of Luke Ball. In so many ways he epitomises everything that is good about Being Collingwood. There are not enough words in our language to describe him. You hear them in every paragraph written or sentence spoken. Professional. Humble. Honest. Hard working. Leader.

Watching him on The Club last night, hearing him say (in summary) that he will be a part of this year, as a member of the leadership group, be at the club, help out, etc just makes my glass that was half empty at 10pm on Friday fill up again. If he can maintain a positive attitude despite his football life ending for 12 months, then surely we can? I love that Eddie is our president, but I would love it if he took a leaf out of Bally's Humble book and Bucks' Professional book and distanced himself from the media bait. We are better than that. Our existence gives the Herald Sun a reason to print pages.

Walking to the G- no, etihad (good for a change I spose) this weekend, as the army marches with some trepidation, uncertainty, perhaps despair, I know that we will be emboldened by the shared emotions. I hope the players can find that spark inside to play more to their abilities - if that happens, we win, and win well. Either way, if we are down, I will be up. 2012 may not pan out with the magic of the end of 2010 or the dominance of 2011. It is a different year, but the same Collingwood.

I love being a member of Collingwood. I love being targeted at work - my email inbox full of "funny Carlton winning pictures" and desk adorned with pictures of Judd/Murphy. The bait is not worth snapping at - I hope Eddie sees this too - and was meeted with a wry grin and a chuckle. Water of a ducks back. Despite this, it does piss me off because I NEVER do that to other peopl, ever. Ah well, enjoy the April flag I guess. I love being targeted but also a member of a large group of fellow Magpie Army members.

This Saturday means a lot - a win to respark some fires. And ANZAC day, the most special day, is the day to relight the fury of the Pies. I dont know that it will happen, or expect it a certainty, but I have faith, turning now to hope. We are Collingwood and we are bigger than any single person, and right now, to me, the biggest most Collingwood person at our club is Luke Ball. The players should play, fight, die for him; with an eye on Krak and McCaff. Show them that their injuries were not in vain. Show them just a little of our power.

I enjoyed this rant.

Please share what makes you feel positive or negative, proud or worried about Being Collingwood.
