Anyone read what happened to Casey Donovan? Apparently it's called "catfishing".

She meets this guy online. Has an online and telephone relationship with this guy for 6 years. But every time he agrees to meet he makes an excuse. Some times a chick would show up (a really butch dyke) and go "oh yeah, I'm his friend, he could come so asked me to come. He said that even though I'm a chick you should f*** me". So Casey Donovan has lesbian sex with this bull-dyke because she told her the boyfriend she has never met says she should?????

wtf?

And yes, BF never ever existed. It was the bull-dyke playing her the whole time.

There is a movie/doco called catfish that coined the phrase it's apparently quite interesting.

About a guy who meets a girl online and gets to know her and she sends him paintings and songs she apparently sung, eventually he finds out the songs are ripped from youtube and they go to confront her and instead of being a young cute girl she is middle aged and married with kids doing it escape her life

My brother did get a call by someone saying that his computer was infected by viruses and the only solution was to "blow up the computer". My brother blasted the guy and hung up. Though it raises a few questions such as what the scammer was trying to achieve and what would happen if someone went along with his scam.

Watch the movie Compliance, was a "scammer" in the states that basically got off on the power of it, all based on a true story.

As seen on ACA tonight. http://weallsave.com.au/

One of the biggest online scams going around. They make out they're this huge discount warehouse selling all the top brands of things and send absolute crap..or nothing at all. You gotta have nerves of steel to run a scam like this be able to sleep at night..

"I have also had major difficulties with "We All Save." I placed an order on 17th July 2014 and today is 21st September 2014 and I have received nothing. I have been contacting them regularly since 1st August 2014 re my order and they keep telling me there is a delay. I have tried to contact them via email but they dont reply, so I was contacting them via there Facebook Page until they blocked me tonight from sending anymore requests for my items! I think we all need to band together here and repeatedly contact them, share thier appalling reputation via Facebook Statuses, and (like me) contact Consumer Affairs/ACCC/Police as "We All Save" are engaging in fraudulent activity. Either that or we attend thier Melbourne Warehouse and demand our moneye be returned!

I got a taste of the multi-level marketing monster recently when a guy I knew set me up with a meeting with one of the higher level guys. Told me that they were looking for an open-minded person looking to make some money, had a really good business project they were looking to expand etc.

Curiosity (and naivety) got the best of me so I had a meeting with this guy. Not once did he elaborate on the actual business plan (i.e. how does the 'business' make money). All he talked about was dreams and goals and what you would do if you had all the money you needed. I actually borrowed a couple of cds with talks from the people who have made it big in the industry (i.e. the people who are at the top and sucking all of the money out of the lower-levels) to hear their brainwashing at work. Exactly the same thing: they never, ever, talked about how the business works they just spouted crap about how good their lifestyle is, and how anybody can do it if they apply themselves.

I'm in the second year of a commerce degree now and have to feel sorry for the people who get sucked into these get-rich quick pyramid schemes. Just completely unethical and further proof that money rules in this society!

Not an overly big scam compared to some of what I have just read in the thread, but I am just back from a few months in Asia and probably got scammed more than I know, in fact I am sure of it, but a simple one that got me was in Bali a week or 2 ago was where you can convert Aussie Dollars from the 'Teller's' on the street where they offer a decent exchange rate and so on. I don't usually even consider these guys for an exchange but I was a fair way from the hotel, didn't have my passport or bank card but did have $200 cash in Aussie with me and thought it can't be too bad.

Basically it is all legit until the 'Teller' counts the exchanged money in front of you, he is quick and is a good counter as expected. It is all done right in front of you and apart from being fairly quick, he even did it twice for me and it all added up perfectly.

I handed over the $200 and grabbed what ever the amount was supposed to be, being fairly cautious I started counting as I walked to ensure it was correct. As expected was about $50 short. I was only 50 meters down the road and even though I was embarassed and deserved what i got I went back to challenged the bloke. I couldn't find him at his stall but as I turned around to walk off disgusted in myself I saw him over the road at the bank. After a heated argument and him telling me he already spent the extra he took from me he somehow negotiated with me and gave me half back!

I have travelled a fair bit but that was a simple scam and I can assure you infuriating and I deserved it. I probably walked off jumped in a Tuk Tuk and paid $20 for a 5 minute ride home that would have cost $2 in a Taxi :-(
They did this to us on our honeymoon.

We tried to change US$100 or something at the time. They used 20,000 notes so there are a lot of them.

It's the 2nd counting that is the slight of hand. After catching them out the 1st time, stealing about half our money, I picked up the money for the 2nd counting..... if they didn't let me, I did the total value divided by 20000 and counted out the required number of notes infront of them. Once I even said can I have 50000 notes and they went to get some.

By going to all the different exchange booths it became clear they are all run by the same "cartel" if you will.

Never leave until you have counted the number of notes yourself infront of them.
