Should we have a crack at cuz at the end of the year?

Very good player, plenty left in him, has some baggage..

28, the weagles are flying without him and a change of scenery might do him some good and he will come at a cheaper price than judd.

What do ya think.

Like you said, cheaper than Judd. Just the fact that we have to know where he is at with his problem. It would be a risk. But one that could very easily pay off.

probably not the best club for him as we all know our players tend to get scrutinised for everything having cousins at our club surely would only be a distraction.

I actually thought about this today and even mentioned it to my brother.

Cousins is a more realistic pick up then Judd, they wanna get something for a 28yo Cousins, they will do anything to keep Judd.

We are hitting 12 o'clock in '09 - '10 so Cousins will be a midfielder hitting 30-31 having a thats never had any serious injuries and super fit. Similiar to Bucks when it comes to fitness, so he can be good into his 32-33s.

I think Cousins, if proven to have cleaned up his act, would be a superb influence on the younger midfielders like Shaw, Pendles ect.

There isnt one young midfielder at Collingwood that wouldnt learn from Cousins if he came to the club.

I say, go for it, I think WCE would accept a 2nd round pick for him, or even a Davis and a 3rd round pick. Anything would do for them, realising he is 29 soon enough.

If we got pick 8 and Medhurst for Tarrant, there is no way West Coast will let him go for a third round pick and an inconsistant forward pocket player.
Remember,he is an Ex captain, premiership player,Brownlow medalist,4 times club champion and 5 times all Australian.
I'd say they would want nothing less than an early first round pick, plus an up and coming player.
Maybe we could tempt them with our first pick and throw in Nathan Brown also,so he could join his brother.
I'd prefer to give them Egan though.

The only way you'd ever look at him would be if you could guarantee that he was over his off-field troubles and that his no.1 priority was football.

With so many young, impressionable players in the side, a senior bloke with bad habits and/or attitude, no matter how good he is, will be nothing but a cancer within a club.

...and a drug user who has countless discretions to his name.

Because you guys are too dumb to look at his negatives doesn't mean footy clubs dont use theirs brains to weigh up positives and negatives with their players/possible recruits

Davis and a 2nd round pick for Cousins isn't as outlandish as it gets you wait until trade week.
Davis wouldn’t get a game at WCE. 2nd round pick + Davis wouldn’t get you Cousins in a pink fit. A club like St. Kilda or Geelong would pay a hell of a lot more to round out their midfield.

Thank you Jabso!

These people talk about captaincy, Brownlows, B&Fs.

They dont look at the type of relationship he has with John Worsfold atm, they dont realise that he isn't the most stable of characters atm, or of his indisrecretions of the last 2-3 years.

WCE would love to get rid of him for a Leon Davis type player and a 2nd round draft pick.

Anyone that thinks Magic wouldnt do well in the Eagles is kidding themselves, if ARMSTRONG can do well then imagine what Davis would do crumbing at the feet of Lynch or just being a nuisance as a forward pocket himself.

I can't work out whether you're "for him or agin him"?

How do you know what type of relationship he has with Worsfold?

If anything, I'd go the other way. It was pretty regularly reported last year that he was still the "spiritual leader" of the club. If that's true I doubt whether WC would want to get rid of a bloke that is obviously very well respected by his team mates.

Getting rid of someone like that, regardless of his indiscretions, sounds like a pretty good way to cause some serious issues in a team that from all reports has some problems with players getting on.

Disagree very strongly. Cousins is almost as good a player as Judd, a great leader on the the field and one of our club's champions, we wouldn't give him up cheap, even if you take into account the baggage he is currently carrying.

It would probably be a bad move for Collingwood to draft him given their history of player indiscretions and a bad move for the Eagles giving up one of their champions, for both the supporters and the players.

Agree

What's the story with Cousins? How long has he got to serve in his contract? You see judd comes out of contract at year's end i don't think cousins does therefore, might be easier to negotiate for judd.Plus judd is 24-25 and we would get more value from him than cousins who is nearly 30.I wouldn't give up a young up and coming player for cousins he is too old.Even for judd i wouldn't give up a thomas or pendelbury,no way,a leon davis or lonie plus money ok otherwise forget that west coast probably won't deal with us any way, that's why if judd can not work things with west coast we deal with his manager and west coast can get what WE decide to give them.

Everyone, we are forgetting he is a drug user.

Before the start of 07, he would have been basicilly 'untouchable'. A legend at the Eagles. Would have needed to given the world to get him. However, things have changed. Now, at best he is worth a 3rd Round Pick.

In the States (i.e the NFL) at the moment, there's a player by the name of Randy Moss who is arguably one of the best wide recievers of the modern era. He is an absolute superstar on the field, however off the field is a different story. He was traded today for a 4th Round pick, as the team he plays for the Raiders were sick off his off-field antics.

Lets also not forget, that Akermanis was traded to the Bulldogs for a 3rd round pick.

Maybe at the end of the year, the Eagles will want to get rid off him for something similar. Yes, he is an absolute gun footballer, and would love to have him at the Pies on his footballing ability. However, off field do we really need a player like that at our club.

I wasn't saying that Davis and a 2nd rounder was necessarily realistic (although it's not that far from being a possibility), I'm just saying you should wait until trade week, that's when the real crap and outlandish trade rumours pop up on bigooty. Davis and 2nd rounder for Kerr, 3rd rounder for Fletcher, O'Bree and 3rd round for Bruce stuff like that.
