Benny could really fast track us and be difference in winnig a GF in 2-3 yrs if he was back to his best.

But will he behave ? #80 and few dollars is a worthwhile investment

I think our board really wants success ASAP

Ben Cousins will not be at the Carlton Football Club in season 2009.

He may be thrown a late lifeline via the PSD, but it wont be from us.

Just got back from a meeting in the CBD where Cousins was discussed by some powerbrokers over breakfast.

Talk around a few melbourne clubs is he may be looked at with a pick above 50.

Bulldogs are keen, as are Essendon.

Looking very likely that Cousins will be drafted today by a Melbourne base club very late in the draft

Blues are intending to use Pick 80 on Cousins this Saturday, and have a 1 year deal wiith around 250k as renumeration for Ben.

The contract has clauses that stipulate that Ben can be fired and paid a pro-rata figure in case of any indescretions. There are also other behavioural conditions and a 1 year option if Cousins plays at least 12 games during the H&A season.

Blues are keeping a big eye on Ben, and are prepared to sack him if he proves to be a bad influence on any of the younger Blues stars.

sorry if this has been mentioned, but if essendon take johnson at pick 5 in the PSD, would carlton consider Cousins?? we have to take someone, why not take him. would much rather him than some 18 year old who won't play a game.

If the 18 y.o. doesn't work out then all we lose is one player.

If Cousins doesn't work out we could lose sponsorship, and possibly he may take other players down with him.

Am I being over the top?

Any chance the AFL would give him special consideration allowing him to be a mature aged rookie even though he's already been on a senior list? They have already done it once in the few years since the mature aged rookie was introduced.

You'd imagine the way the AFL are pushing for an AFL club to pick him up, that that may very well be the case. Could definitely see them allowing it, but whether a club goes for him is a different story.
 
As much as most clubs have expressed they don't want Ben Cousins i don't wreckon they'd be to happy if we picked him up.
With him onboard and no hiccups the blues could almost be in real contention for next years flag!

Repeat after me...Cousins and Nahas will not be at Carlton next year!!!....
