If Carlton picked up Cousins and he getting 30 touches a week and tearing sides apart with Judd and Carlton were 7&3 at round 10 , you blokes would be bragging about it was the best recruit of the year.

It would be just like other clubs chosing not to pick up Fev due to is off field antics if he was up for trade yet you guys are happy for him to kick a ton at Carlton but still bag him when he stuffs up.

Life and sport is full of different unique individuals, you take the good with the bad and learn to get by the best as possible.

All well and good Cousins could play another 4 years easy just like Bradley did.

Put it this way, if you owned a Company and one of your sales reps was earning you 500,000 a year and was clean as a whistle and another sales rep was earning you 1,000,000 year but was a bit dodgey and you knew he was pocketing 100,000 himself yet was still earning you 400,000 more than the trusted sales rep, which sales rep would you rather work at your Company long term?

I know which one i would want.

It is plainly obvious that you have never been involved in managing people let alone owning a company.

Ever heard of integrity? It is a vital commodity when dealing with people successfully.

Those who always put dollars first, always lose in the end!!!

Huge fan of Cousins (far and away my favourite non-Blue prior to 07).

While I'd love to see him playing AFL again, he isn't someone we should be looking at, given his age and the state of our list (I heard he's had issues off the field, too).

I presume you have a good source for this potentially defamatory assertion?

Your only going by whats fed to you by the media, if you really knew you'd be supprised.

The only thing positive that I can say about Failmantle is that I'm glad Peter Bell has retired....now I don't have to listen to that f____n bell.

You better hope Ronnie Tuba doesn't get picked up.

Are you brain damaged or just really stupid? Either way that is close to the stupidest thing i have ever read.

Interesting to see Robert Harvey largely corroborate what I said, that Cousins could go on forever and therefore could be a huge pick up.

I wouldn't be too unhappy if we took him at 69 (how ironic would that number be for Benny!).

If he stuffs up then he's out the door, but if he can stay clean he could be a gun for 5 years for us and only a fool would not want that.

Pick 69 is a 0.000568% chance of playing 100 games, so why not roll the dice. Of course Judd is probably against it and his word supersedes mine :)

FFS - We don't doubt his footballing capacity, it's his destabising influence on the young footballers that would have me worried.

I just can't see Ben would go down that track again. I just can't. How could he? Everything will be on him to see what happens he's not going to stuff that up. More to the point seeing him getting his life back together and putting the boots and playing like we all know he can would surely leave the kids inspired aswell as the pulic.

We should at least have someone at the club look at meeting with him. In order to get back from his drug use he would have gone through alot of soul searching so he will be in a better frame of mind and will be pushing himself to prove what he is worth. I don't care what people say in response to this because I know that if he returns in a good determined frame of mind and has an impact in a guernsey other than ours, people next year will be saying if we got cousins would we be a premiership contendor? With good leadership at our club I wouldn't think the kids would have too much trouble in their development with Cuz around.

I'd be guided by the club on this call but most of all, it all comes down to Juddy. If Cousins' activities lead in any way to Juddy wanting out, then I'd rather keep him happy than get greedy.

Why would Juddy say no. He's been part of his rehabilitation. Ratt's alluded to there being a romance with bringing Ben with Chris and quite frankly i support that.

And to those that think of him as ******** then come off it. Seriously the guy was regarded as one of the best Captains that West Coast had and he was a terrific captain. An on field leader better than Judd in that regard. His problem related to being in an environment that clearly did not do any good.

At Carlton he'll be a leader and I find it hard to believe that the fantastic group of kids we have with us would fall into a path of self destruction. I find it even harder that Cousins would even have the nerve to get back on the drugs.

The guy is a hoover...

At some point, he is going to screw up and relapse and screw every thing up. He had too many chances at the weagles and in the end, he thought that he could get away with anything.

Now, the AFL is saying you've been a bad boy in the past but you seem to have sorted out your problems so have another shot at finishing off your career in style.

The west coasters arent going to touch him with a 50ft barge pole and neither should we. The Aints shouldnt even look at putting Cousins into the room as his old drinking and drugs buddy Gardner.

Besides, Cous has shown that he likes being a toolie so he will probably end up in Brisbane so he can go chasing after all the barely legal schoolies :(

Onya cuzzy for getting your life back on track, hope you have a great season in 09. I love his footy its incredible:thumbsu:

Here here! Good luck to him I say! I can't wait to see him back in action!
