after hearing ben grahams progess does anyoe think we should have kept him on our list? we wer gonna delist james rahilly and does anyone really think he is gonna be part og the geelong team this year or there are any future plans for him?
surely keeping benny on the list would have been a better option, considering both of them are likly to play the same amount og games this year.
i know i sure would love him back and wouldnt mind if it was mid-year

I don't think you understand that Ben left on his own accords, not that of the club's.

We can continue to ponder what may have been with Graham and Ottens, but the fact is, he's gone, therefore I think it's time we all got over him. He ain't coming back.

And for what it's worth, Rahilly is a VFL standard player -- there's a reason he was the player nominated to be delisted. If he's getting games in the seniors, we're either at a point where we've got half the team out injured or we're struggling mightily. Will only be good worth as a VFL midfielder.

It was never a question of retaining him. We offered him a contract. He knocked the club back to pursue another sporting career with another sporting organisation, in another country.

He is gone.

There was no point holding any spot for someone who turns their back on the club.

With any luck, they will still play the same number of senior games for Geelong this year.

I'm still baffled as to why Rahilly was kept once Ben left, yet if Ben stayed he was gone.

If they played the same position it would make sense.

I suppose you ahev to have someone tha all the others can pick on. I would have dumped him in a flash but I guess they thought by the time they get another draft pick it will probably someone of Rahilly's ability anyway.

That's a bit harsh isn't it?? leaving yout place of employment after 10 or so years to enhance one's life experience doesn't mean you have 'turned your back on the company'. you have just moved on to a different stage.

Get over it

I am over it, but surely you cannot expect McDonalds to not employ someone else in case you come back when you get a better offer from KFC so leave to work there can you? The same applies in Ben's case. He turned his back on GFC to play in the NFL. I have no problems with that, I follow the NFL probably as closely as AFL. But we cannot keep a spot for him in case it does not work out and he decides to come back.

Correct the AFl have never been one for charity or looking after players and if Graham wanted out to go pick flowers, play NFL, row a boat or whatever, that is his choice and he will never be back at Geelong.
