I think Astbury will eventually fit into our forward line. Doesn't wear the #12 for no reason.
i think griff will be chb for next ten years and elton will be chf,by the way did anyone hear the old wooooof when he bomb from 70 in the last quart .:thumbsu:

Griff was amazing yesterday. He played his role and did some nice things - he did far better than I expected him to.

Let him take the kick outs, he can just kick over the opposition's press :D

I think our defence is getting pretty crowded, from the team who played yesterday, Grimes, Batchelor and possibly Moore/Astbury could come in. Great depth we are building :thumbsu:

FWIW, I'd play the following back 6

Grimes Rance Morris
Newman Griff Batchelor

Ellis, Houli and Dea (could probably include Newman and Batchelor for some stints) can rotate through the middle/backline as needed. Exciting times ahead

Thats the same back 6 that i thought of with Dea rotating off the bench and Ellis and Houli pushing into the midfield

With how teams push numbers forward to keep the ball inside their 50, any desperation rebound 50 by the opposition could be snapped up by Griff and booted in for a goal :D

griff was very good at chb but was he better than grimes? (no way) so it will b interesting to see how they work it when grimes is back and batch.

look guys he played one reasonable game. give the kid a break. long way to go. he aint no superstar. he is learning the caper and his body is now ready. long way to go. you blokes saying he is this and that and elton is going to play chf, take a chill pill, enjoy the ride and watch it happen if it does thanks everyone

Was great yesterday for his first game in defense and his 7th overall. Need him to now hold his spot for the rest of the year

Has long as his limbs stay on his body this guy could well develop into a serious weapon .

Surely they'll keep playing him if he keeps performing. Rance, Grimes and Post lined up in round 1 so I reckon the 2 key backs thing is due to the lack of quality options rather than a structural thing.

Fair call...:thumbsu:...

I'd hate to think what would happen if Rance went down with injury....

Mate I think everyone is just pleased for the lad that he could finally get onto the park and have a really positive start to the year. Without going too over the top I think everyone here can see how important he could be for our spine and that he shows a lot of promise for the future. Has all the weapons to be a very damaging player and I can't wait to see it all unfold. Great time to be a tigers supporter. :thumbsu:

He's clearly good enough to become a good defender the big question for me is if he is good enough to become a good forward.

quite funny how one game can completely change a career path and a game plan

supposed to be the next CHF...nek minnit : playing CHB and with accomplishment.

Still needs a month or so of good performances, one sparrow does not maketh a spring. He is just such a likely type, no word better describes this fellow, just has all the attributes to be a beast of a footballer.

just need to make sure we have enough sticky tape for that shoulder

God he looks good.

He's huge, agile, and that boot is amazing.

In regards to our talls, I think our backline should look like this in future:

Grimes Rance Morris
Newman Griffiths Houli (Batchelor on the bench)

Let Rance and Griff take the 2 bigs, and have Grimes floating around and covering, ala Scarlett. WOW

And our forward line:

Nahas Elton/Astbury Edwards
Vickery Riewoldt King

How good is it to struggle to fit players in the team!!

His shoulders appeared fine when he smashed Buddy over the boundary line :D loved how the commentators even mentioned that Buddy never gets knocked over in a one on one. Loved it.

These comments should in all honesty fall by the wayside :thumbsd:He hasn't had any shoulder issues for over a year now. So much in fact that he doesn't even wear shoulder strapping (See C.Judd)......

I'd take a flexible utililty any day of the week!

Anyone remember Jimmy "the Ghost" Jess? What an uncanny resemblance!
