These comments should in all honesty fall by the wayside :thumbsd:He hasn't had any shoulder issues for over a year now. So much in fact that he doesn't even wear shoulder strapping (See C.Judd)......

He did have it on, it was just hard to see because it wasn't just stabilizing shoulder strapping, it was to prevent posterior dislocation.

A shoulder reconstruction is still a shoulder reconstruction, it's not like a knee one which comes back fine.

It will always lack a bit of strength, good thing is that as people age, calcification occurs around joints and muscles, making it harder to dislocate.

Hopefully is fine but I think he has both shoulders pop now, tread carefully with this one

Ah the memories!

Can remember him unleashing several "ball bursters" a game. Some going through the big sticks! Had the crowd in raptures, did the old Ghost!

Was at a game where he was playing fullback and roosting torpedoes every kick in must hav been a dozen straight he hardly ever fluffed em.

Has had bone grafting. Spoke to his surgeon. He was very pleased with the result. Cross fingers it holds!

I'd take a flexible utililty any day of the week!

Anyone remember Jimmy "the Ghost" Jess? What an uncanny resemblance!

I said something similar in another thread. Great if he can play both ends depending on opposition for/back set ups. :thumbsu:

Nothing like a good bit of doctor patient confidentiality, haha

God he looks good.

He's huge, agile, and that boot is amazing.

In regards to our talls, I think our backline should look like this in future:

Grimes Rance Morris
Newman Griffiths Houli (Batchelor on the bench)

Let Rance and Griff take the 2 bigs, and have Grimes floating around and covering, ala Scarlett. WOW

And our forward line:

Nahas Elton/Astbury Edwards
Vickery Riewoldt King

How good is it to struggle to fit players in the team!!

No way known will Batch be a bench player. Turning very quickly into a gun!!

Gee it must have been the smallest bit of strapping:eek:
Good info:thumbsu:

For sure he will be a gun, he's on of my favourite players. I was just referencing to the point the we will have Newman, Houli, and Batchelor all rebounding off half back.

Batch in will release Newman to wing which in turn pushes Edwards to a pocket which pushes one of King or Nahas out, or maybe it is Newman to replace Jacko who gets dropped.

This is the progression and depth we've all been waiting for.

Just a small bump but the boy was good again last night. Its not just his booming kick he was very clean below his knees and his handballing release teammates so well kind of like Cotchin. He had some good defensive spoils too but a few he missed but with more game time he will come on. When Grimes moves in next to him we could have a very talented backline.

Is Benny eligible for rising star this year?

Defence and midfield looking great. Now for the forward line. Vickery showed good signs last night. Once his confidence lifts we'll be looking good up forward. Would love to see Post in the team too. Get him in the forward line and he'll take some screamers

When will Big Griff get his rising star nomination?

Im tipping round 17 against North. By then he should be primed (unless he gets an easy one in the GWS, Melbourne or Suns games)

Hopefully against North because it means he has played a good game on Petrie who isn't the best match up for Rance

I've been very impressed with him in the last two games. It's amazing how our defence looked so weak in little then over a year ago. Now with the rise of Rance, Griff and Grimes it's looking stronger then it ever did for over a decade.

Played well again last night, his handballs releasing teamates were particularly impressive....and that booming kick of course :D
Kept Kosi in check for a good bit of the night, can't ask for much more

Loving Griff in the team and how well he is playing. He is the missing piece in our defense, the extra height he has is something we have always needed. Rance, Grimes and Griff are our key defenders for the next decade...:thumbsu:

Obviously the thing you notice is his long kicking but his disposal in general is great. His composure under pressure has surprised me. Should be given the kick outs as much as possible. Have you ever seen a 200cm player with such a good kicking action?

I really want to see him unleash a torp, set Maric and CHF and he'll mark it from the kick out!!! Another thing I'd like to see him be thrown forward occasionally when the other team doesn't have a big guy for him to play on.

How good has Ben Griffiths been down back?

Super impressive!

Not just his pinpoint 60m laser-guided foot skills, contested marking or great speed. What has really impressed me is his awareness in close and his ability to find and release players by hand.

He has exceeded all expectations in his two games back, in my opinion.

Let's hope he continues on:thumbsu:

Re: How good has Ben Griffiths been down back?

Uncanny ability to pick the ball up off the ground and handball off to a runner.

Great attribute for a 200cm player to have!

Re: How good has Ben Griffiths been down back?

The bit of play in the third where he marked strongly on the wing, kicked it to TV, then ran back hard to spoil Reiwoldt in the Saints forward pocket was very, very good.

Lots of work still to come for the lad, but going OK.

Re: How good has Ben Griffiths been down back?

Shoulders are doing fine too. He's been landing heavily on the ground a bit after going for big marks. His kicks are 70m btw
