Eh, didn't really like him and didn't see him as a consistent enough ruck for us being in and out of the SANFL. Also, I had no idea he was 32.

Anyway best of luck to him.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge but that was how I remembered him in 05 or 06.

Always thought he was a great player for us, and i still reckon we could've given 2009 a bit more of a shake if he was in our ruck.

Sauce is on a whole new level though.

Mature age recruit who was reknowned for his efforts when the ball hit the ground...
Big heart and big ego. Didnt like being disciplined after a night out and got dropped for a final and then they say he asked to leave?

One that got away..

Wish him all the best, was a big part of our resurgence.

The centre circle introduced and then the sub rule this year really killed him off. Just not big enough to be a no.1 ruck and not versatile enough to be the mobile 2nd ruckman. In his prime he was every bit as good as what Sauce showed us this year. 2nd and 3rd efforts was his forte, he was very very good in close and winning the clearance. Solid career.

As Rehn said two weeks ago; make the ruck circle bigger, or get rid of it all together. Between it and the sub rule (get rid of that too), it's killing the purity of rucking as a skill.

Huddo, liked him, till he spat the dummy and sooked.

Once he left, I resented him because I never felt that he adequately re-paid us for plucking him from obscurity at an age that no-one else would have done so.

As well, we stood by him when he did a knee.

We effectively only got 2 good years out of him from the 4 that he was with us.

I know the whole story about the contracts blah blah blah, but that was his passport to fk off, as he knew that his request for a 3 year contract would not be granted in line with the club's policies.

Shafted us IMO.

A disappointing chapter in our history.

Our other ruckmen were Griffin, Maric and Meesen (who we traded that year) yet we couldn't find a 3 year deal for him. Oh, we traded in Moran when we lost Hudson so I guess we felt it balanced out

A self inflicted wound that grates to this day. An example of our 'club knows best' policy.

Why wouldnt you blame us for having an inflexible policy that led us to offering a required player (and clearly an important one to our team) a contract far below what they could get on the market?

And Im not sure that noone else would have drafted him either. I remember hearing the Bulldogs wanted him the year we took him.

Can someone explain the,' someone owes us because we drafted them' to me?

To explain my view point I believe someone owes us because they signed a contract with us.

Out of contract, no obligation.

In general I'd say no. But a player like trengrove, port took a big risk with his injury. So I'd say he owes them. Or a player which no ones shows any interest in and a club picks them up.

That's our choice and risk. If the player comes through and delivers you still need to pony up to retain them. the club had already been paid back with their service during the contract.

Met Hudson once and he was a bit of a jerk, but the dude could play footy. He'll be remembered as a quality ruckman.
Pretty consistent from most people that have met him. Jerk.

The word from the Bulldogs is that hes been a pain in the arse at that club for the past couple of years also.

Writing was on the wall when craigy told him he was the laziest player he had ever coached.

Crows were never going to retain him...
You couldn't watch him play and call him lazy. Unparallaled work ethic and intensity.

It became increasingly clear that Craig didn't watch the players play.

Oh man, my drunken belligerence was deleted. I was interested to read what I wrote.
Ha, may have just overstepped Fu. lol

Huddo got everything he could out of his talent and well done to that. Still, he wanted home and used the contract situation as a scapegoat.
