Again Collingwood supporters who play up something they have done as ground breaking.:rolleyes: Any club can do this and they don't have to use a rookie spot to do it.
Where did I say this was ground-breaking? Good list management yes, ground-breaking - no.
My point was that with a stand-alone VFL side we can do what we want with our squad and not have to worry about an affiliated club with a different culture, different focus, different playing style etc.

Like Mitch Hahn did with the Dogs with no affiliated club. This move by Collingwood is out of desperation as Jolly is shot and there rucks are a way off being ready.

Well he can simply just play in the VFL he doesnt have to be on Collingwoods list to play in there two's. I seriously doubt he will be play senior football.
So do I and my preference is for him not to. But he is there for insurance because we are exposed if Jolly goes down. Some could argue that Wood could've been insurance but its clear that a semi-retired Hudson is going to be better value than Wood.

you could be right there. but if we can nurse Jolly through the H/A and have him ready for finals (even this year he did quite well in the finals) then the Hudson move has worked.
Personally I hope Grundy/Witts can both play bigger roles in the seniors but they are both unknown quantities.

For him to do that he will have to play VFL on a regular basis or otherwise he will be in no condition for AFL.

Both Witts and Grundy are over 100kgs (Witts at about 115kgs to be exact) and both played #1 ruck in state senior footy last year.

"A way off" is an exaggeration!

Witts has no problem with his size. Its his ability thats the problem he's a long way off making it. Grundy was out rucked in the Championships last year by a 205cm 78kg kid from Vic Metro.

You claimed Jolly is shot despite playing every game last year that he wasn't intentionally rested for and performed to a high standard, so forgive me if I don't take your subjective analysis based on a sample size of one game too seriously.

LOL at the Finger. The worst 1st string ruckman in the comp is Ben McEvoy and his backup is now Hickey:oops: who St.Kilda coughed up pick 13/14? for when Grundy went at pick 18. Ouch. Just as well Finger goes for the Dees as Jamar is a very good ruckman and she doesn't have to worry about her teams ruck stock.

No your right Jolly is flying. Jolly has to be carefully nursed through the season and his form was patchy towards the end of extened games. The example I used in relation to Grundy is commonly shared and was only to demonstrate he's not a walk up 22 game player next season no matter how heavy he is.

Poor poor attempt to troll there. Really doesnt warrant a responce but anyway here goes. For pick 13 StKilda got a ten year ruckman that has at least proven he is AFL standard. A ruckman I might that Collingwood where offering pick 18 for. They also got a 195cm key forward that Collingwood where very keen on and has drawn early comparisons with Buddy Franklin. Thats what they got for pick 13.

More farewells than John Farnham.

Shows a huge amount of faith in Collingwood's young ruck stocks if they need a twice retired 33-year-old.

So it's the concept of insurance you're struggling with?
Im not struggling with anything. Some Collingwood posters think Hudson will sit on the sidelines not playing then if Jolly goes down he will pull on the boots and play senior AFL. Hudson will need to be playing VFL footy if he is to compete in the AFL.

Why/How could I troll a Melbourne supporter with some St.Kilda hacks?

Yeah Collingwood offfered pick 18. hahahahahahaha 10 year ruckman. Next I hear how many games Andrew Lovett is going to play. Stick to the club you know most about...you know Melbourne:rolleyes:

Anyhow, we should just bring in the Beard against McEvoy and Hickey only and that's only if our youngsters are injured.

Rather than just make things up perhaps speak the truth. Collingwood offered pick 18 for Hickey. Guess after he bent them over last year it left a lasting impression.

Probably wants to get into coaching and couldn't get a ruck coaching role in QLD, or at least not one as good as this one at Collingwood.

Obviously Hudson will be insurance for Jolly. They got rid of Wood and now that leaves Witts and Grundy. As they will be in premiership contention again can you imagine if Jolly went down in the finals. The other option would be to rookie Wood or Stephenson, someone like that. Make sense when you look at it from that perspective.

Where is the "pity the fool" button?

Honestly, we're not applying to the AFL for permission for Hudson to train with us so he can play VFL. If he's going to be an insurance policy for Jolly he will need to actually be able to play in Jolly's role in the event of a long-term injury, ie. be promoted as necessary. So yeah, he needs to be on Collingwood's list.

Bent over is a bit of a stretch considering we won by 100 points. He was competitive against Cam Wood, which is hardly the stuff of champions.

Not sure where you got the pick 18 offer from, probably the same source that told you Witts and Reid were leaving at the end of this season...

Errr. No. You keep telling yourself that though. We wouldn't have given up pick 18 for Hickey, McEvoy, Luke Ball, Brendan Goddard, Cripps and Andrew Lovett. Hickey was one of the only opponents that Wood beat. Well Hickey and McEvoy anyway. Considering we delisted Wood, I'd say Hickey and McEvoy are destined for huge things. . I understand Hickey beat McEvoy and that was the reason for St.Kildas hefty price. I'm sure they are happy with it though.

Gee, you seem to know and care a lot about St.Kildas crappy list and club history. Let me guess, as a die hard Melbourne supporter  you feel pity for that rabble of a club.

At least the Dees are on the up :thumbsu:

Back to the thread, I'd expect The Beard to towel up both Hickey and McEvoy while teaching Witts and pick 18 and best ruck in the draft,Brodie Grundy.
