IF we got Ben King hopefully Marshall could nail down the No 1 ruck spot.

I hope that Ryder has a few more years playing his best football though.

I don’t know if he would be up for it but I think Membrey would make an excellent intercept defender. This is another option.

We’d have to have a lot of faith in Clark, Bytel, Byrnes etc….improving and being good enough in the middle to take us to the top as it would cost us a big chunk of our drafting/trading hand to get him.

Ben is probably our best chance of trading in another elite player given that in recent history we haven’t had the comps high end nominate us. He also may not command Brad Hill type wages as he wants to play for the club and with his brother so will take a bit less than your average contracted player to move (IF this is the case, who knows what Ben is thinking).

I’m going on my rankings regarding b and f. That eliminates crouch at this stage and I’d have billings ahead of Howard. Billings only 2 poor games was when he hurt his foot.

if we hypothetically landed king.

does that mean Membrey or Battle become surplus ?

Its not an opinion on Ross. So in your eyes we need to keep all these players cause we have gone so well with them?

If Billings leaves do you think we will never go any good?
We bounce about the mid table for a decade but keep going with the same players?

Billings brings us another first. This has been my point for an entire week.

we won’t win anything if we are drafting 1 kid in the first round over 3 years. You need to find another first.

The list window as it stands isn’t built around the top end. It’s built so that when Max is ready to be the man we have a mix of mature seasoned guns and the kids he is coming through with ready to play 120 mins a week of men’s football. Adding Ben to this equation pretty much makes us a free agent destination for a decade due to the top end quality.

Hence Lethlean saying we are committing to the draft this year.

IN:
2 first in a 3 year period + King.

OUT:
lose a top end senior + 2 firsts in a 3 year period.

that’s how you list build. You don’t stop baking the cake because you got the best icing possible.
 
We sign max king for four more years and his brother’s thread is five images longer.

Just St Kilda things.

At least try and say something similar to what I maybe thinking. Let’s go through this. Firstly the opinion was obviously on the best players. You know that but go for it. Secondly who said we need to keep all those players who ever those are anyway. If billings leaves I haven’t got clue how we will be but saying never is emotive stuff. If he stays or goes it wont effect us in 20 years good or bad. If billings does stay who in their right mind apart from you suggested we go with the same players. A lot of emotive stuff in a small post. None of which I mentioned. If you want to play your game if billings goes do we win a grand final?

So if billings is an after the first round pick do you lose him for say pick 20 because he could easily be after the first round. That’s crazy in my eyes. People need to stop saying first round and saying top 10 or top 20.

Do you think Billings agrees to a deal below. 700k with any club including ours? Or do you think it’s highly likely he is 700k plus?

because if it’s the latter and the season ended today. It’s pick 9. In about 8 weeks. I imagine it will be about pick 6 or 7

No idea but I’m sure you will make it fact to justify. What if it’s 650k and he just wants out. And it’s pick 20. At the moment both could happen. If billings is worth so much and we are also adding a top 10 pick for king I imagine he gets over a million. I refuse to believe he will pay for a lot less to play with his brother. It’s a professional business.

Did I say billings was Hayes. We lose a pick and a player so ok Hayes and dal for roo seen as we are making things up. I think you are overboard on billings being as good as dal but you mentioned it so I will go for it.

He is a restricted free agent is he not?
So you force a club into a trade - which will get us better then pick 20.

a mid teen first + second rounder?
A top 10 pick ideally

Secondly Billings out and king in would be pretty much par for salary, maybe even abit of cash back in our pocket.

Seems strange we get some back but basically pay a top 10 pick plus billings. Don’t buy that one little bit
