It certainly isn't their normal modus operandi to overpay, which would be necessary to get King. They don't pay a lot to players who they depend on already.
That said, maybe they'll think differently if the St. Kilda model works in 2026.

When Lynch as a free agent and selected Richmond for a reporter $1.1 mil it was posted that the Pies were the higher offer with around $1.25mil back in 2018

With Cap increases and older players retiring in the next 24 months the Pies offering $1.5-$1.7 mil wouldnt be out of the question for a KPF thats a free agent and would be hard for B.King to knock back

Not much different to 1.4M. Don’t forget ambassador money, haha. You got to come up with 2M. He is restricted free agent, I believe. BTW, Rowell apparently knocked back 2M offer from Saints for 1.2-1.3M from Suns. That’s the commitment.

Yeah we never know what players get offered or what they are thinking about where they want to be or live
But you would imagine with all the talent and the contracts the suns will be getting extremely tight

Might need a bit of relief and Richmond can help and take Humprey off your hands

Honestly, for myself, if he left, I wouldn't be as put off as I would have been a few years ago. Wouldn't love losing him, but I'm more confident now in the club to cover the loss.

Unless someone is going to offer $2mpa, he’d be better off staying at the Suns. I remember Saints fans taunting GCS about Ben going to the Saints, but why would he want to do that.

I think likely outcome is he stays or someone with a lot of cap space offers him an irresponsible amount to move.

One trick pony although kicking a squillion goals is a very good trick.

reminds me of ben brown at his peak in that he kicks goals but does nothing else.

unlike brown i think king other things he could be doing. hes athletic enough and good overhead to the point that he should definitely be working up the ground and presenting as an option for suns to leave defence. you have to assume its a coaches direction that he never leave the forward 50.

Ben scored 71 goals with two developing babies Walter and Read as sidekicks. I would say that's pretty good. Most teams would kill for such an output from forward.

I would agree he does a good job when moving up the field utilising his speed but coach does not seem keen on that. All you hear from Dimma is split the contest, bring the ball to ground if you can't mark it.

It does look like Read will play link-up role on the wing with JUH possibly too.

That's a good and fair question for which I have no answer. Just thinking about a match of player and destination; and the fact that I think it COULD work out for the Suns too.

I would assume the Pies would offer a deal that the Suns couldn’t match. The Suns likely get the compo pick. Depends on what sort of salary cap wizardry they can do.
