Going over old ground a bit here.
 
Really, if he plays that badly in his 50th when he should put in, there is now zero future for him.

I know he has a lot of mates playing pretty poorly, but we'd be better off having a members badge draw and giving someone from the social club a go instead of him. Couldn't go worse.
 
Going over old ground...based on the last 10 weeks many players should be gone but won't be... hard to single out Bk, besides he must be doing some thing right to still be on list. Although I do agree that he is an average footy player at best but so are many of our players. Most are front runners.

Ben Kinnear is a waste of space. He is useless, does absolutely f(ck all.

Its makes my blood boil every time I think that we kept this dud, whilst delisting Betheras....heck, even Freeborn was better then Kinnear.

Kinnear is useless, and it is a disgrace that this dud has been on our list for 7 years. 7 F)CKEN YEARS!

And I can't believe that we signed him again last year for 2 years.

Someone from the football department should be sacked over that decision. Not a one year contract, but two years.

Every tom, **** and harry can see that Kinnear is an absolute dud, yet our genius football dept go ahead and sign him up for not one year, but two. Like what the hell is going on.

Balme has to go....he's recruiting record makes for very very bad reading. And Malthouse must improve his list management, cause to be quite frank, he puts far to much confidence in some players who quite clearly just don't cut it.
 
I think the Ben Kinnear secret is the biggest in the football world!

How is he still on our list?
As a huge BK supporter over the last two years i honestly think he will play another game for the club during the year, But it certainly won't be this week. Sorry to say this Benny, but it is time to go back. I thought you could have turned it on last night at the dome, and when you took the first set shot at goal within the first minute, i think the confidence raised over the bar, but that was the only time you did something.
Atleast you played better than Willo, had a shocker and big ben could have concussed him early in the first quarter. Could even be tool of the week moment.
 
How many of you who get on Ben Kinnear's back have ever played at that level? He is a trier with limited ability. That is no reason to come up with the crap so many of you give him.

Take a good hard look at yourselves and maybe ask yourself why it is that the best you can be at football are snipers on a bulletin board.
 
That's all Kinnear has going for him, tries his hardest, but still can't make an impact on the game. I have wished that he would pick up, but he hasn't. Maybe once his Collingwood careeer comes to an end (which is just a matter of time now) he should try VFL, or bush footy, he would probably be good down there.
 
No doubt that BK lacks the pace, skill and ability to be a good AFL Footballer but in saying that I tell you Brent I've got half a leg back on the bandwagon, although he didn't do too much this week I think he'll have yet another spell in the VFL and re-earn hes spot in a few weeks time.

That raises a good point, I'm convinced...myself not having played any AFL games, I feel that I canot ( even though I have in the past) comment on the abilty or non ability of AFL players. I do how ever feel that being a passionate paid up member that I along with everyone of you have the right to a opinion weather it is liked or not by anyone else.
 
You really don't need to be an AFL player to see that a player shouldn't be playing AFL football. Most players it is obvious they shouldn't be there.

Kinnear could be a good player, if he was tought more about the game. He gets thrown in there without anyony giving him anything to go on. Give him a role somewhere on the ground, put him in the forward pocket, might turn into a good forward.
 
Thats a valid point you make, but I doubt that because at VFL level hes very consistent and does his job, maybe thats because hes given a role at VFL level or maybe he is just more confident who knows? but if he is not gona get a role then why play him.
 
Confidence is a major issue for not only Ben but qa lot of players on our list. I saw Rhyce Shaw tear north ballarat another hole today but chuch him the big time and all of a sudden he doesnt feel like he can fly like he did today. Willow is a very capable player but he has had a major confidence problem since half way through last year. Keeping willow in the side was bad for him as a player because he knew he was playing bad but was given a false sense of security, i think its knocked him around a bit. McGough-all he needed was someone to believe in him (as i didnt) and throw him in the kitchen, and look at that he has made a great eye fillet steak and vegie dish. On ya Goughy. Walker is thrown into positions that are way out of his depth, how is he gonna get confidence when he comes in the game just to be eaten up?

As for his game on saturday night, it was poor, as was at least 6 or 7 others who were pathetic. Really disappointed in not only BK but half the side.

Maybe it's stage fright? Down in the VFL he wouldn't be playing infront of that many probably 2,000 or 3,000. in the AFL he's playing infront of 30,000+ so maybe that could be his problem? It could also be Rhyce Shaw's probably too.
 
Thats a good point Brent. No point only talking about BK when there is plenty of other dudes that should be under enourmous pressure to earn theire spot every week but are not for various different reasons. One major factor in that being that there is no personal to back up the front liners in the ressies. Heath Shaw looked ok, as did Rhyce but throw them into the big time and they might do a Nixon. Spose there is only one way to find out if players are good enough for the AFL.

McKee did not play today for some reason, C.CLoke had a sore knee/leg after the game. Shakels wasn't good at all. that's pretty much it, so who do we have with all the injuries to replace the current poo that is being produced by the same players everyweek.
 
I think it maybe time to throw some of these rookies in for a game, give them the taste of AFL footy, they will need some experince. Then they will know how AFL football works, we'll be able to mold them.
 
I agree with you totally, but i still have a little faith if only slim. I say play the best available 22 agaisnt Adelaide on Friday night and if it fails, which I think it will then throw in some youngsters like Tony Shaw did with Lockyer and look what happend.
 
I hope to see the Magpies fight it out to the end, I know they may not win many this year, but as long as they fight some of them out, I will be a little happy about the outcome.

That is my point gw. We can have an opinion on whether or not a player is up to the standard required for senior AFL football. My own opinion of BK is that he isn't. What gives me the ****s is that some people, who have never and will never make the grade, use terms that are completely disrespectful against someone who has achieved more than they.

We have the right to say that BK, Rhyce, Willo and others aren't up to the standard but lets not lost sight of the fact that these have all achieved more than us and deserve a certain amount of respect for doing that.

If people can't give that respect then get out there and do better.

On the basis of your arguement no one should bag politicians unless they themselves had been a politician. Or you could take it even further and say people should only comment on things they themselves have done.

Don't make much sense does it?
 
If Fraser, Presti and Burns don't come up this week then

BEN KINNEAR will play.

But if they do come up

He still will play

Collingwood's midfield is stacked up at the moment, Mullins and Nixon play better in the middle and not on the bench, make room for these guys or they can go. It is time for Nixon to troddle back to the magoos and perform there. Ben wasn;t our best on Saturday night and according to Champion Data he was the worst. He had no impact yet it is the positioning on the ground. He should be playing Forward Pocket and not Wing. He might pull a couple of goals out of nowhere. This way he will deserve a lollypop or an ice-cream after the game and keep his spot.

Its hard to have a discussion with someone who deliberately misrepresents what is said. You aren't a politician, are you?

It is ok to express an opinion on a politician's performance. However when you use statements of fact to represent your opinion then you had better be able to back it up with something that qualifies you to make that statement.

labrooy, some of the sentiment might appear to be overly harsh, but I think you're missing where it's directed at.

Ben is a good bloke and tries his guts out and none of us here deny him that. However the anger and "dud" claims etc.. are more directed at our football department.

There are plenty of players not up to AFL standard. It's just our department have had three chances to put this poor kid out of his misery (first time was excusable)! What's worse, they keep bloody playing him!!

That's where the anger is going. It might be misdirected by calling Ben a "dud" or "useless" but the deal is, that it should be blatantly obvious, both to us and the football department, which is why people get frustrated and feel the need to resort to such terms.
 
Nothing personal Ben but you are not good enough. I pay my money and i can say that if I think it. Sure as hell my clients will tell me if I or my staff don't perform at work. None of them would know how to do my job but they know if it isn't done properly from the results, or lack thereof. The simple fact is if Ben could play at AFL level we would have know about it 3 years ago and by now it is impossible that there could be any doubt. If by chance we delisted him and somehow he was picked up by another club and he then came good well all I could say is well done Ben, sorry for ever doubting and good luck to you. I have more chance of picking up Elle McPherson tonight while watching TV at home with my wife.
