Best first half of a Grand Final I've seen from a player for a while. Dogs had to change their stoppage gameplan and hang off him for the second half to try and curb his influence and he was still one of the best out there. Best player on Grand Final day isn't always on the winning side, I feel like this year was one of those times.

i'm thinking his recent performances as a forward have Richo thinking that will be his spot. Could be in with a chance too, unless Lonie recaptures his 2015 form.

I thought we wanted him for his speed? So surely wing would be more appropriate, unless I have the wrong end of the stick?

He will have more ticker than Milera, Long is from Darwin.

I think he'll play high half forward with sporadic bursts through the midfield.

The more I see footage of Long the more I think he may be used to play a 'Rioli' type role. High impact both with and without the ball. His pace, aggression & tackling look great.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he leap frogs a few and becomes a regular in the senior team by the end of the year.

Ben's an interesting one his selection came out of left field so clearly the collective brains trust are going for something specific in terms of needs. There were plenty of very good players still available in the draft at that point. He will, as some have put, probably take time to not only adjust to afl but also his role. Seems like a natural player though, could be anything could be nothing!

With Long's selection "out of nowhere" and his skillset...

Putting 2 and 2 together it makes sense that they see Long as filling this spot, or at least being an option there
