FWIR he drove someone into the turf / too high in a very over zealous tackle. Sounded as if it warranted a report but its not like it was a hit behind play or anything of that nature.

I agree. All in all it was dangerous and reckless but shows a desire to hit the contest hard. Hardly a hanging offense.

You can clean up a bit of untidiness. You can't teach hardness at the contest anywhere near as easily

I think a part of his suspension was also due to the injury the other guy got. Shoulder was hanging out, tough bugger kept playing to try and get his team over the line but it didn't pan out, couldn't really move his arm. He's an aggressive kid which is great, but this was definitely more reckless than malicious.

Oh, that video actually is exciting as. I bet it was actually on the case FOR side of the recruiters' ledger for Ben, not the Against.

That showed the exact intent we want in our players: hard, brave, committed to the contest. It's problem was technique. Technique can be learned, trained.

The other thing I love is that it happened at NEAFL level. He didn't clock some 16 year old. He was in battle with men, in a Prelim no less, with men giving their all. And in one of the clashes of the battle, this boy among men came out on top.

This is a guy who understands men's footy, and big game footy.

Starting to understand what Trout saw in the kid. He's a good reach.

His first block in the goal square is a beauty, and he ran twenty five meters to make it. His second was definitely careless. But strong running defensive intent. Blocking to create space for his team mates. And looks like he will be a player that goes hard at the second and third effort. Muy bien!

Pleased to pick up Ben as player advocate.
Picked him cos I am interested in following his journey into the AFL.
Great story and the kid seems to have really found his AFL focus a couple of years ago.
Every level he goes up to he just seems to lift quickly to the standard and then next thing he's exceeding expectations.
With only one more level to take on I'm confident he can be an excitement machine for us for many years.
