Injury Ben Reid suffering from post season knee surgery

At round 13 we sat at 4 wins and 8 losses and a percentage of 84. By the time round 19 came around we were 8 wins, 10 losses and had a percentage of 91. We were 4 games and 20 percentage points off an 8th place Nth. If the club thought at this point that we were a legitimate finalist and were playing a guy as important as Reid rather than getting him into surgery because of expectations we could pinch a flag... then they are more deluded than the most deluded Bigfooty posters. If they also waited until round 20 to make an assessment on whether or not Reid needed surgery for an injury he sustained in round 4; then the club is the biggest incompetence in the AFL.
The truth is they knew the injury, knew the remedial surgery required and played him until he reached the recovery period for round 1 2017. If he misses round 1 2017 due to any "complications" etc that the club didn't factor in.. then that is poor by the club.

Besides all that. How good is Reidy!!!!. He had a very decent year and he did it with a knee in need of significant surgery since round 4! Awesome effort! Having experienced knee issues myself I have no idea how these guys do it.
Could hear it, Reid made of tissue paper, trade him, he's washed up, career over, can't get through the year, Collingwood telling us one thing and it's a setback.

We need guys playing around him learning from him, he is so important to us playing good football

He's a star, just wish we could play him fwd.

He is a star, but a fragile one, vital to team structure down back because he adds class to a defence with very few decent tall options. You are correct in wishing for him to play forward, but Reid is safer down back and needed there. It's a shame he has legs made of glass. We must nurse him through whatever time remains in his career, and a semi loose role down back seems best suited to extending his longevity.
